Depends on your opinion about ethicality of brainwashing people with ads.

The term "piracy" is used by record companies to demonize sharing and cooperation by equating them to kidnaping, murder and theft.

Truth.

The first use of the word 'pirate' itself to describe unauthorized publishing of books dates back to at least 1736

An interesting fact.

How does Stallmna think the enterprise industry should be funded?
SloveniaBernd2023-07-04 17:03:01 · 3yNo. 277342reply
entertainers don't have to be funded, they get food and drinks and bed for free every time they perform and they get to socially network like mad anyway too

Same principle.

Do you imply enterprises go bankrupt because of the unauthorized copying of their copyrighted product?

this is literally how artists lived for majority of human history and a lot of underground artists who love what they do woold love if this were the norm rather than measly pay that barely covers road expenses (if even)

I don't know if you heard, but they're already working on blocking youtube for people who use ad blockers

it would happen if most people blocked ads

i encounter this sometimes when i watch YT on Brave but on the great majority of videos it doesn't work

the reality is that almost none of the entertainment that Bernd consumes would not get made if it weren't profitable

Scraping pennies because they not just reached the limit of growth but because advertisers leave them as it's not profitable to pay for youtube, pay-per-view, or whatever it's called, is a bad investment. And not because ad-blockers, since only a tiny fragment of users use em.

Metallica was literally destroyed by Napster and now they live in the poorhouse...

>they get food and drinks and bed for free every time they perform
When a musician works (plays on concert) he gets payed. This is the main source of income. Selling records is fine, but it's stupid to "criminalize" copying, since it makes easier to reach wider audiences - who could go to their concert or decide to actually support them by buying the records.
