What if the God IS a cool ebin-tier dude and he WANTS us to drunk and fuck hookers and enjoy life instead of depriving ourselves of those earthly pleasures? Just what if.
You're born and people are made in his image but with mistakes that comes from the fall of grace, you're told that you're nearly perfect as long as you repent. Devotion and good behavior in doing things that are said to be god's path in life means you get to have an afterlife that is much better than mortal life and filled with pleasures, but you have to do things in accordance to his words, and if you don't then you go to hell. It's servitude in a way but also gives people security in doing things that are pointless because there's an afterlife. I'm not that edgy so I don't have a problem with it, but to me sometimes it seems like there's cases where it's too much security and people can lose their way. An atheist that doesn't believe in the afterlife cares more about here and now and tries to make the most out of life, I'm not sure but some of the most developed nations on earth tend to be mostly atheist.
I believe the same. If God represents good/the divine/etc the why he allows evil to happen, specially evil generated from our own free will? What’s the purpose of a free will that can allow us to do evil deeds, which are in essence against the essence of God himself? It is not contradictory? Maybe his wisdom is not infinite and he make mistakes? I highly doubt it after observing the complex bioengineering most living beings have, he does it on purpose, but why? Fucker loves to watch us suffer, is the only explanation. We are like an experiment or entertainment to him.
And if you believe in things like being reborn, what is the purpose of learning during our life time if everything is forgotten and erased like Tabula Rasa? And you make a good point, if hell and heaven are real then free will is just an illusion because we have to follow his indications/rules/moral compasses and he is just an egocentrical asshole (and to be honest it makes sense, a being so powerful is full of himself and full of his own shit).

Yes, but, I'd be able to forgive if afterlife was guaranteed and things really did end up better. Instead we're supposed to abide for a chance at going to heaven, maybe. You want me to be a good christian so I qualify for heaven? Just to be good enough in his eyes because apparently I have inherited sin. No way, if I can get remorse and understanding from a human being who isn't all powerful why shouldn't god be able to do the same? Are humans more able to forgive than god? It sounds fucked up to me.
