Why do we find baby animals cute? I look at such an image and just go „awww“ in my mind and want to look at more of them. Why? I don’t have a reasonable explanation for this behavior.

> Why do we find baby animals cute?
we don't find them cute, they are cute and it's an indisputable fact
SlovakiaBernd2023-06-14 15:39:19 · 3yNo. 274858reply
because your subconscious layers of heda tell you that they are human babies

baby mammals are specifically evolved to be cute
it is helpful in convincing momma not to abandon them

consider that baby lizards are neutral and baby pirds look like abominations

Wrong. Animals have adapted to find attributes of being a toddler cute. Because if you find your toddler qt you will take better care for it and it has a better chance to transport your genes to the next generation, thus reinforcing this behavior.
Small limbs, big foreheda and big eyes make complete sense for a body that is growing up fast. They don't have adapted to be this way in order to be viewed differently.

Momma bird will probably find its offspring cute as well.
SloveniaBernd2023-06-14 16:40:48 · 3yNo. 274871reply
Disagreed; it's probably the other way around. (If you can convince your momma that you're cute you have a better chance to not only survive but also to thrive and not grow up to be a scrawny incel)

Why does a baby bird not want to look cute?
SloveniaBernd2023-06-14 16:53:11 · 3yNo. 274877reply
Because it wants to get momma to bring food as many times as possible. So she needs to leave.
GermanyBernd2023-06-14 17:03:34 · 3yNo. 274880reply
What about these cute baby birds? They look way better than human children. Human children look like ans shit compared to other animal children.

why would animals have the same experience of cuteness as humans do
FinlandBernd2023-06-14 17:27:12 · 3yNo. 274883reply
well okay
FinlandBernd2023-06-14 17:28:53 · 3yNo. 274884reply
cuteness is in the eye of the beholder rather than an objective property of anything, therefore only this reasoning >>274868 makes sense

It might be possible and is even likely that baby schema attributes in babies got stronger and stronger over the decades just because this increases the probability of the child to survive.

Blackpill: All human babies are ugly as fuck, but obviously parents can't admit it and nobody from the outside wants to be rude or considered a bad baby hating person, I always cringe when people go "aww a baby I will pretend like I want to hold this disgusting smelly screaming thing that looks like a miniature old man"
PolandBernd2023-06-14 19:44:22 · 3yNo. 274913reply

doubts. That's the incel talking in you.
The hormonal cocktail your brain injects into your system once you turn parent will make you enjoy the looks of babies.

Huh?! Kind of getting the vibe that you expect me to want to fuck babies here...

Not saying this in a "sour grapes" sort of thing, but as in, you lack normal human socio-emotional cues
