Any other era would be better than the dystopian global shithole we are heading towards

I would live there even today, it’s still a good place if you don’t go to the favelas where the weaponized macacos live but why would you go to the ugly periphery and not stay near the beach?

Nah, I actually think the USSR was the best place to live back then. Maybe Cuba.

Today it is a shithole without any real economy beyond tourism, back then it was a jet setter capital of Bossa Nova and modernism.

I bet it was amazing to get an apartment for free by the government.

You mean that the second richest city in Brazil and the second largest city regarding population has no real economy? Even though services (tourism is not the only service) are the main economic activity, the city is second place in industrial and financial activities (behind São Paulo, of course) producing (mainly) chemicals, oil derivated products, pharmaceutical products, metallurgic goods, textiles, ships and furniture.

I have been there, have you?

Did you take the 5 days bus line between Lima and Rio to visit?
PeruBernd2023-05-20 07:14:11 · 3yNo. 271442reply
Does that really exist?
also >5 days
I though it would take more time to travel in bus from Lima to Rio lol
IsraelBernd2023-05-20 08:02:13 · 3yNo. 271447reply
Yes. It goes from Rio to the Amazon region and then enters the Andes.
It has stops at several cities, such as nazca, Cuzco, Sao Paulo, etc.
I don't know why they take the route to the Amazon if they can go through Bolivia.

Have you seen the roads in Bolivia?
IsraelBernd2023-05-20 09:48:29 · 3yNo. 271455reply
They still cross through Bolivia, but only on the northern part, without any stop there even though it encompasses hours of travel, so it's probably something political or diplomatic.
Brazilian hinterland roads aren't much better too...
SloveniaBernd2023-05-20 11:03:13 · 3yNo. 271458reply
They don't, they literally go around right on the border.
PeruBernd2023-05-20 14:56:42 · 3yNo. 271475reply
No, I travelled by plane, although I have visited Brazil by driving too like this >>271447 , not on a bus.

And what is your opinion of Rio? Did you find Rio's women attractive?
PeruBernd2023-05-20 17:18:43 · 3yNo. 271506reply
My first post in this thread was literally my opinion about Rio. It’s a nice place, the zone near the beach Copacabana is beautiful although the city itself is big and it expands to the Northwest (the tourist/beaches part is a tiny section located at the Southeast of the city), I took the liberty and time to explore those areas, most of them are middle class (not talking about the favelas). Of course it has plenty of problems like any big Latin American city but since I come from such a place it is not an issue. Women in Rio and in Brazil in general are beautiful and heterogenous, you can find different women for all tastes. Don’t get me wrong, you can find fugly women as well, but a lot of beautiful women with great bodies because there’s a strong culture of fitness there.

Did you visit any museum? Were you at the historical center of the city? How long you spent there?
