California is the spiritual capital of the US, Californians are also very proud of being Californians for some reason. Never been or anything, but being from California seems like a big deal to Americans.

Only thing really big here is LA and their whole music/film scene
San Diego is just a bunch of immigrants and San Francisco is hell.
Being say Texan at least has some merit, cause they were an actual country for a decent period of time. Being Californian either says “I’m a fag”, “I’m a drug addict”, or “I’m an annoying blonde girl who can’t shut the fuck up”
RHCP was my favorite band growing up and they always made sure to mention California in their songs, like the rest of the world absolutely must know about the existence of California as if it was something very important.
I also listen to the Mega64 podcast and they're also from California, it seems as if the cultural exports of California have been affecting me throughout my life and I didn't even realize until much later.
