I need help with coding but the project I am working on is secret so I can't rely on other people to help me lest they find out what I am using it for and it shouldn't be their concern
why does it have to be so hard? I google stuff and get answers, but it seems like even though I type in exactly what it tells me to, it doesn't work the way that it should. Am I just a brainlet?

why not just give up on everything?
i do this every time i have even slightest obstacle

my noggin needs activation by doing stuff
I spent too long inactive and I've grown to the point of not finding videogames fun anymore so I need to do something else
Anyway, it's pretty basic stuff that should have been obvious and easy but I am still failing, maybe I am just developmentally disabled or something, would make sense.

Have you tried just copypasting it?

I use that as a fail-safe and generally do not like to do it because it makes me feel even stupider, but the thing is that if I were to copy and paste it would remove some of the values that are default values, so I don't want to override those with something I found online unless I want to break it all. I've saved some of the default values in order to avoid that and tried copy and pasting, but it still didn't seem to work the way I wanted it to. I've considered different possibilities, like me trying to edit the wrong file that doesn't show some of the default values that are shown in the website, I tried different files, some of which had those default values, but it wasn't related to the changes I intended on making, which should have been a specific file that didn't display those default values, so it made me think that I was editing the wrong file. Then I tried editing other files that did have the default values I found on the website, tried putting in some things that should have fit, the code even lighted up and stuff as if it was the correct thing I was doing, and then boom, nada.
I'm having a tough time, this shouldn't be as hard as it seems to be, it's very basic and the fact that I am having as many troubles is testament to the fact that I might just be very stupid or something. I haven't really given up, I've just been avoiding it for a while during the weekend, like I was on break or something, but I came back to it today and made no significant progress, everything looks exactly the same as it did after I changed it slightly a while back and sometimes it feels like maybe I am just not cut out for it or something.

There's also a problem that I have which is the specific commands which require certain keys that despite using my keyboard layout for most of my life, I have no idea which buttons to press to make them appear, so I'm stuck copying and pasting a few things, and there's also something related to the quotiation marks that my keyboard has, apparently the quotation marks required to actually do things are different from the ones that my keyboard makes, small stuff like that makes everything just a little harder for me.

I just did, it even gave me a code which I copy and pasted, still didn't work.
I must be trying to edit the wrong file or something, even if it should have been that one as many different sites said it was, but there's something wrong.

so you're just copypasting things without actually understanding what they do? you'll never get your project working like this

I just managed to achieve some progress, it turns out I had been trying to edit the wrong file, that paired with the fact that the quotation marks that I make with my keyboard aren't recognized by the code left me scratching my head for a while. It's done what I intended now, though, so I feel relieved knowing that I figured the issue out. Also, what I pasted was pretty simple, if it had been something complex I wouldn't have even considered pasting it, not knowing how something works and then just copying and pasting is a no-no for someone who wants to learn.
