That’s simply not true. Storage is cheap and basically infinite in 2023. It’s true for some movies (from a quality perspective), I give you that. Because there definitely are movies out there that don’t have any 1080p detail, so a 720p encode would be enough. But usually that’s only the case for very old black and white movies. In all other cases, 1080p will look better.

Yeah it has a particular following among those who has romantic notion of living off gird. Considering he couldn't and basically committed a slow suicide by getting lost on purpose, it's weird.
Nattosumo put the award ceremony up and he talks about the channel's future. He says youtube is done. His main platform is rumble at the moment, but he says that is also prone to taken down. I don't really have favourite directors. Movies I really like (there are lots of good movies, that I'm fine rewatching), aren't necessarily good ones, some are "objectively" are (meaning lots of people thinks favorably of them), but some definitely not, they have to offer something that really strike something inside, a thought or a feeling, or perhaps a personal experience, etc.
But as for directors, I liked Guy Ritchie movies generally, I've seen Lock Stock, Snatch, Revolver, and RocknRolla. Then I watched the two Sherlock Holmes movies and I recognized typical techniques, that say, yeah, this is one of his, but did not make me care for those films. I wanna watch The Gentlemen, I've seen the telly show recently, it's okay, I think a bit "tired".
I found Kubrick's work also good - at least what I've seen. Dr Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, and Clockwork Orange. I might go back and watch some earlier ones sometimes. 2001 Space Odyssey not so much and Shining is also a mixed bag, there is no "good" Stephen King adaptations (this doesn't mean I don't like watching some).
Kurosawa I should also mention, perhaps should have in the first place. Especially Ran and Dersu Uzala. I've seen others (not all ofc) like Yojimbo, and they are breddy gud as well, but the first two felt great to watch.
When I pick a movie (not just for these stream, but when I wanna watch something) I usually don't check the director.

I did not have the expectation that it will make me laugh, it's a black tragicomedy afterall. I expected it to be serious with some absurdities. It was, but not how I expected to be however.
It really is about boring people at a boring place, even the chick with the colorful clothing declares this in the movie, so I can't blame you finding it boring.
It's quite all right considering they tried to fit the whole first book into one movie. The BBC miniseries (the telly show, not the regular radio one) is better. And again the case where the source material, the books are the real deal.
As for the towel... the book features segments, quotes from the encyclopedia of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which explains lot. Both the miniseries and the movie tried to implement these to some extent, but obviously these need less of them. The towel is one of those mandatory tools of galactic hitchhiking that are explained.

I wasn't really a Kohlchan user ever. After I ended up on end I spent my time there with 6-12 Bernds and put lotta effort into it. Never felt the need to post on Kohl, I had a place for my OC on end/kc. Then I got involved with running the site and that keeps me busy when I'm not doing my own IRL and OL life stuff and often while I'm doing my own stuff...
Also I don't like the rampant kiddie posting on Kohl. I highly suspect on 9chan, after we took it over, we had problems with the same people who dump their crap on Kohl.
Well, I'm one of the many Bernds who is addicted to Kohl and can't quit. And no, I haven't been on Kraut, that's why I'm interested in its history and role. I'm particularly interested in a comparison to Kohl, whether Krautchan was really better than nuKC.

Well those sound more personal questions about me.
The /kc/ board was a bunker board on Endchan. There was others, like on 8chan where I went when Krautchan went down for like 2 months in 2016 summer. And when Krautchan came back some stayed, and eventually moved to Endchan, because some tard took over the board on 8 and banned everyone. This was in 2017 March. Like three days after Krautchan went away for good. And then Kohl was set up sometimes later.

Wakatakakage vs Oho
Wkage is a seasoned veteran, who had chances to become ozeki, which is champion, one rank below of yokozuna (grand champion). An injury not long ago put him out of the race sadly, he is talented and strong. A lighter, agile fighter.
Oho is relatively young, big and strong, and while looks like a doofus, he can be clever and quick (and in interviews he seems intelligent). His performance is "wavy", check his stats in the video. He is top ranker for sure tho.
Oho is now at the rank of sekiwake, one below ozeki, Wkage also held this rank in the past, quite a few occasions. He might return there.
Unlikely either of them will reach ozeki.
This is Midorifuji vs Abi from yesterday.
Midori is one of the shortest rikishis with his 174 cm. He is agile and has to resort alternative techniques compared to the classic hugging and pushing styles.
Abi is quite quick and has a distinct style of rushing forward, pushing on the opponents chin and throat, then withdrawing quickly in the hope he can pull the opponent down if the previous pushes did not work. However Midorifuji is too short for this to work well.
Both osumosans are around 30, approaching to the late years of their careers, unlikely to getting any better. They still can have couple of good years still.
The feeds of the sport channels have slower replays often from different angles. These are in the edited videos we watch daily. Some youtuber do recaps of some interesting bouts and they examine what's happening, draw arrows and such. Not sure which channels I don't follow them just remember seeing a couple.
I'm chopping those off for smaller filesize. Some of the interesting bouts can be long.

Churanoumi vs Ichiyamamoto
They sent gyoji (referee) off the dohyo too. Sometimes happens, sometimes in even funnier fashion. Ichiyamamoto was very polite trying to help him no to fall while he was getting defeated

Anyway.
Those to rikishis aren't too notable. They have their moments but overall they are about a solid middle tier rasslers in the topmost division. Churanoumi has a great poker face, among the best, Ichiyamamoto seem more open and honest. They both are 32 years old.
Wakamotoharu vs Hoshoryu
Very last bout of the day.
Bouts go in order from the lowest rankings to the topmost. This is a yokozuna fight.
Wakamotoharu is good enough to be in the named ranks (sanyaku), he often does. Recently his form was less than excellent however. He is a veteran, agile rikishi, while getting old probably some good years ahead still.
Hoshoryu is the yokozuna West. He is the smaller yokozuna, and for now it seems the weaker one. He is no doubt talented and strong, but he tend to randomly lose bouts he shouldn't. This was true for all his career. Perhaps it's an overconfidence or a concentration problem. But maybe because he isn't relatively light.
Read this after:
I have to explain the technique used. It is called a "henka" a sidestep performed right after the igniting charge, the tachi-ai. It's not enough to let the opponent rush out, at the minimum he needs to be slapped at least symbolically. Often however the henka is supported by a move that pushes the opponent further. This was done masterfully.
Onosato vs Ura
Here's the other yokozuna. Big, strong, quick, young, has the talent too. He prefers the style we refer colloquially pushypushy (oshizumo) instead of wrestling (yorizumo). For me what he does looks like as if he rolled the opponents like barrels. He is very effective and since he is a big lad, most rikishis has little chance. I really like Onosato for his honest, open face. His expressions tell a lot about the emotions going through him.
Ura is an older veteran. A small, agile fighter. He has a very interesting defensive style. He tries to avoid hugging/wrestling, ducks a lot and dances out of the way of the opponents.
Their confrontation resulted in a very interesting bout. The result is by the book.
Today we pass halfway of the tournament. Day 8th from the 15 day long basho. First kachi koshis might coming in. That is the 8th win. Two rikishis can achieve this: Fujiryoga in juryo and Onosato himself.
Hakuoho vs. Takayasu
Hakuoho is a young wrestler, amateur champion, handpicked by the great yokozuna Hakuho himself, got his shikona (ring name) from him too. He is pretty darn good. He had a shoulder injury he had got operated after his debut in the topmost division. After that he had some recovery and he wasn't performed in his best. It seems he is getting there, climbing towards the top of the banzuke (ranking).
Takayasu is a veteran, former ozeki (champion, one rank below yokozuna) he still is in the named ranks (sanyaku) despite being 35. Routine, experience and talent on his side.
I picked this video for the technique used. It looks kinda ridiculous but it was performed well, with enough force and speed, denying recovery.

Fujinokawa vs Kinbozan
Fujinokawa is the youngest lad and among the tinyest. It's always fun to watch their bouts since they can't rely on their mass.
Kinbozan is a Kazakh rikishi with long legs and long arms. His performance isn't even, he has good bashos and bad ones.
Fun bout, how things can change in a second.

Aonishiki vs Yoshinofuji
Aonishiki is the younger, and frankly, more talented Ukrainian. He is only 21(!) and has a great chance to become an ozeki (champion, just below yokozuna - grand champion) soon. He is strong, agile, quick to think and react. I think his main problem is not squatting enough like good Slavs do, and he bends from his hip. When his back will inevitable give out, this will bite back to him. But this is years from now with a bit of luck. Have to note, with this rate as he rises and develops... he might make it to yokozuna.
Yoshinofuji is a bit older, 24, but a new face in pro-sumo. As far as I know he is from amateur sumo and rose very quickly to be in the top wrestlers. He suffered a leg injury, which hampered his performance somewhat recently. He beat Onosato yesterday, which is a feat in itself. We'll see what the future might hold for him. He recently picked his ring name (shikona), previously he used his own first name, Kusano.
I picked this fite because the technique performed in a true, standard fashion. It's a different version of the mentioned here: >>351057
Churanoumi vs Shishi
I think I posted a Churanoumi match in the lost posts. He is a stable veteran in the lower rankings of the makuuchi division. He has great pokerface.
Shishi is the weaker Ukrainian. Surprisingly his the bigger lad, looks like the butcher from the corner butchershop. He - just as Aonishiki - doesn't squat enough. He usually towers over most opponents. He is not very skillful, but he is large, heavy, with long arms, and sometimes he can pull some cool tricks. His fights often look weird, but rarely boring.
This one is a fierce fight. Not a nice one sure, but a lively and violent.
It's a very important bout from yesterday. Controversial decision too.
Onosato vs Aonishiki
The three leading rikishis of the tournament was yokozuna Onosato, yokozuna Hoshoryu, and sekiwake Aonishiki. All had 10-2 results at the start of the day, Hoshoryu managed to defeat his opponent ozeki Kotozakura so he had 11-2.
Now this was a deciding bout who will remain the other 11-2 and therefore have the chance to fight for the tournament champion title (yusho), Onosato or Aonishiki
I might post the replay for this to make the matter clear. Also I have to spoiler it for the explanation:
Onosato pushed Aonishiki out, but the Ukrainian was in mid air pushing Onosato down who hits the clay before Aonishiki would fall out. Despite this they ruled that Onosato won. Now many fans are debating if they did the right thing. Some claiming the referee and the elders showed favoritism towards the yokozuna. There is some rule that when both rikishis reach the "dead" state simultaneously then the one within the ring is the winner. On the other hand there is some rule about fighting actively in mid-air too so who knows.
Fujinokawa vs Asakoryu
The Battle of the Little People
Well not really little they are like 178 cm or so. But they are among the tiniest from all the rikishis, and next to the biggest lads they look like children. Or even midgets since for all the muscles and bulky frame their limbs look short.
I talked about Fujinokawa so here's about Asakoryu. He isn't that great but he fought his place in the topmost division and good enough to stay in. He is a stable participant. And anything they can achieve in their size, it's a good performance. They usually have the most fun bouts, since they have to use skills.
So this was from yesterday and today is the last day of the tournament. Who will win the yusho, the tournament championship in both juryo and makuuchi divisions is still undecided.
Excite!
So yesterday the basho was concluded.
The tournament champion, the winner of the yusho is... sekiwake Aonishiki, the young Ukrainian.
Sometimes I ponder if they somehow let him win for the Ukrainian war (Japan is a staunch supporter of Ukraine), occasionally I see bouts that are fishy so it can be done, but in his bouts I can't see signs of manipulations. All his opponents seem to give their best.
But we are getting a bit ahead.
The last day saw yokozuna Onosato and Hoshoryu having 11-3 records, with Aonishiki the same.
First Aonishiki beat ozeki Kotozakura. 12-3 as end-result for him, and this meant he will be in the playoff for the yusho title with the winner of the yokozuna fight - the two grand champions faced each other in the very last bout - the winner to face Aonishiki in the playoff.
But when it came to the yokozuna bout it turned out Onosato had to skip out due to injury. This left Hoshoryu without opponent and with an automatic victory and 12-3 record.
And now the playoff.
Hoshoryu vs Aonishiki
I posted about Hosh in a lost post. Anyway, he is breddy darn good, a more agile fighter than Onosato, but perhaps weaker in general, the lesser yokozuna in the pair.
Fun thing Hosh has an ongoing losing record against Aonishiki. They met three times before that, the young Ukrainian won on all three occasions.

Sadly I can't post the award ceremony and the traditional yusho interview where Aonishiki expressed his ambitions.

Those were good struggles. Bit missed opportunity by Mitakeumi in the first vid.
Today I did some edits. I'll pick one to post it here.
Actually, here's two.
First one from juryo.
Nishinoryu vs Takerufuji
I know little about Nishinoryu. Takerufuji is a makuuchi regular who got relegated due to injury. He won the yusho (tournament championship) on his debut in makuuchi which is an insane feat. Now he is struggling his way back into the top division.
Very quick bout.
Second is a long one from makuuchi.
Onokatsu vs Churanoumi
Onokatsu is relatively new, a talent from amateur sumo. He isn't great, but seems to establishing himself a stable rank and file rikishi in the top division.
Churanoumi is a veteran. Great pokerface. He can do fun things, stable rank and file.
Had to convert this smaller. Got "bad request" error, perhaps because file size (over 27Mb was the original).

Kirishima vs Wakamotoharu
Both are solid sanjaku rankers (named ranks in the top). Kirishima was an ozeki, but for either bad form or injury he dropped out. They are long time opponents now fought in many bashos. This bout is a real good matchup, both struggling hard, neither having clear initiative.
And I have to post this.
Yoshinofuji vs Onosato
Yoshinofuji is a young talent rising in the ranks quick. He still have to collect lots of xp and level up. But damn he can do some stuff.
Onosato was simiar rising talent, who skyrocketed to the top of the banzuke, and now fulfills the duties of yokozuna. He has a distinctive style he likes to use. Yoshinofuji avoided it, and grabbed his pantsu well.
I picking only one for today.
Ryuden vs Asanoyama
Both are getting old. Asanoyama is getting back to makuuchi, for he broke his leg and had to sit out for months. He is an ex-ozeki, meaning he was a champion some years ago. He is talented, but health and age issues.
Ryuden was a stable makuuchi rank-and-file, was good enough to reach the lowest sanyaku rank: komusubi. In the past he got reprimanded and demoted for violating "unnecessary trips" rule during covid times when he visited several women.
The bout itself isn't that interesting, except a false start, and that Asanoyama's toe bandage rolled off.
Not too spectacular bouts today. But two stood out for their intensity.
Gonoyama vs Fujinokawa
Gonoyama is a small-ish agile fighter who will use various techniques, sometimes pushes to the chin and throat. He often does interesting stuff and can be a tough opponent. These days he seems to be out of form two bashos ago did a 1-14 record which is plain awful.
I posted about Fujinokawa, he is really young and one of the tiniest. He shows great talent except his size works against him. I don't believe he'll ever be a top rikishi, but he is a solid addition to makuuchi.
Great oshidashi (pushing with slaps) fight, suits Gonoyama much.
Two for today.
First from juryo, the 2nd division.
Meisei vs Wakanosho
Meisei is a veteran, spent years in makuuchi, reached the rank of sekiwake too. I'm guessing he is down here for health issues. Perhaps joints, perhaps back, perhaps diabetes. Or the combination of these. His last three tournaments were abysmal. He started real good this tournament, I thought he has a good chance for the yusho (tournament champion) but he started to lose.
Wakanosho looks odd. I mean his jaw. I highly suspect it broke at some point in the past. He is young, but he is not doing good. Perhaps suffered injury, so after a brief visit in juryo he was relegated back to makushita (3rd division). I can't tell much about him. I think he had some fun bouts.
Wakanosho controls with regular tsupparis (slaps/pushes) while Meisei trying to go for a grab on his pantsu.
Daieisho vs Onosato
Onosato we met so just about Daieisho.
He is getting old and ill, injured couple of bashos ago. But he was a strong sekiwake with great talent for pushy-pushy fite, and he seemed recovering. As he started this tournament this does not show. I don't think the future is too bright for him, I'm expecting slow decline.
As for the bout: this is why speed and agility is important. Have to exploit the opportunities opening. Onosato can't just sit on his laurels he has to put work in it.
Today the Emperor visited the basho with his wife and daughter. We have not seen one picture of them sadly.
Tokihayate vs Abi
Tokihayate is a smaller rikishi, a bit bland, he doesn't stand out from the mass. He is all right nothing wrong with him.
Abi we know him already, but I selected this bout because this is a very typical Abizumo - the style Abi fights with. It can be very effective.
What a weird day this was. From the 4 topmost rikishi 3 lost.
Hoshoryu vs Daieisho
Hosh is one of the yokozuna as noted. He got suffered a heda injury yesterday, fell onto the clay head first. You can see the wound on the right side of his forehead.
Daieisho I mentioned yesterday, when he fought the other yokozuna, Onosato.
This bout is notable for that one can win by letting the opponent's momentum do most of the job.
One from juryo.
Asasuiryu vs Shirokuma
Asasuiryu is unkown to me, he was recently climbed up from makushita. His debut in juryo was disappointing he got below the bar 7-8 result. Next basho was better 9-6. He fails some succeeds in some. He isn't too young either. We'll see what he can do in the future.
Shirokuma the White Bear. I noticed he is liked. He is in juryo for a while now, did a visit in makuuchi too, but got relegated right away. Seems like he is comfortable in the 2nd division.
Very good lively bout for juryo.
From the big boys.
Chiyoshoma vs Mitakeumi
Chiyoshoma is a fun rassler, he is often into all kinds of shenanigans, he is agile too. His performance is effected by injury sadly, otherwise very capable and can pull something unexpected. Usually good to watch his bouts.
Mitakeumi is an ex-ozeki. Fell from the top just after a short reign there. His health is trashed, his bouts are often painful to watch. Getting slow and battered. He has the talent, but his body is getting in the way.
Short bout, but worth a watch.
Surprisingly rare. They have plenty opportunities. This basho seen couple of head injuries. Yokozuna Hoshoryu got a split on his skin of his forehead. Today OHO headbutted with his opponent Ichiyamamoto, again drawing blood.
They suffer all kinds of injuries, torn muscles, broken bones. They can fell quite unfortunately.
On rare occasions they got KO-ed, like boxers do.
It's not just hugging and feeling each other up that's for sure.
Let's start with juryo again.
Dewanoryu vs Kitanowaka
Dwayne is a mysterious Mongolian. brand new in juryo so I know little of him. His previous results aren't that impressive, but he is doing well now, so maybe it's worth to take note of him.
Kitanowaka is returning following injury and some out time. I like his style, he tries various stuff, I saw him imitating some typical move of the Great Yokozuna Hakuho. But he is not good enough to climb into makuuchi apparently, but we'll see.
The bout isn't spectacular - tho they put great effort in it - but notable for other reason, and has a fun ending.
Had to downsize the video for it was over 20 MB and got bad request error.
Many great bouts today by relatively lower ranking rikishis.
Kotoeiho vs Nishinoryu
Kotoeiho is cool look at those splits he's doing. He is the brother of Kotosho in makuuchi. He is young, doesn't lack talent, but not a genius like some others. He will mature and probably move to makuuchi where he had a brief visit earlier.
Nishinoryu is new for me as I noted.
I picked this bout for it could have gone either way, and its funny how they try to hold each other by their pantsu but those just stretch more and more. There is a reason to it. Some rikishis prefer to tie them lose exactly to prevent efficient grabbing. If it is tight and fixed, it's easier to lift or move around the opponent.
Tobizaru vs Hatsuyama
The very first bout from makuuchi. Good lively match.
Tobizaru is a light and short, agile rikishi. A veteran, he is getting old, and his health is deteriorating. He is kind of a media personality, he features various telly-shows, especially together with the ever-smiling Ura. His name translates to Flying Monkey, and he usually flies out of the dohyo. He has a defensive style likes to avoid being grabbed or pushed.
Hatsuyama is a newcomer in makuuchi. He had quite a few bashos in juryo where he gradually approached the top, recently with good results. He's one of the great poker faces. This basho doesn't work out for him sadly. Perhaps injury or the opponents are just too tough.
Sometimes all it takes to let the other go.
Ura vs Takanosho
Talked about Ura.
Takanosho is a veteran. Stable top half of makuuchi, showing rollercoaster form - lots of wins suddenly lots of loss. His style of fighting is not very memorable or showy, but he is one of the great pokerfaces.
The bout ends suddenly with a surprise. Some of the rikishis chose to roll out certain falls. Background in other martial arts can help.
Hoshoryu vs Kotozakura
Hosh I talked about.
Kotozakura is a girthy lad with multiple teats. He seems consolidating as ozeki. He seems struggling tho, gaining only 8-7s, which is considered a weak result from an ozeki, and it just enough to keep him from becoming kadoban - ie one step away from demotion. I think he had some health problems prior.
These two met many times already, on 25 bashos they were opponents, most of the time Hoshoryu winning.
Great throw.
We are after a fine basher.

Fujiryoga vs. Wakanosho
Both are young rikishis, 22, but Wakanosho is already fighting for a while now. Fujiryoga started only 5 tournaments ago. He still has a short hair, not long enough to tie it into the traditional topknot. He fixes his hair with gel so he looks he's moving really fast. Not a slow guy tho.
Very lively pushypushy fight.
Kotozakura vs Aonishiki
I rather pick this than the yusho deciding bout between Aonishiki vs Atamifuji.
Here's interesting tidbit. Recently switched to wear his stablemaster's, former sekiwake, mawashi (silk pantsu). It's a great honor. During this basho Aonishiki won the championship, which is a great feat. He won as freshly promoted ozeki, last time this happened was 2006 and was achieved by the legendary yokozuna Hakuho.

Here's the last days standing. Something to write here about the basho that could be meaningful here for those who are new to sumo?
Perhaps about the yusho interview. It is customary to give relatively schematic replies. Like "i kept focusing the bout in front of me" or "I can thank my victory to my oyakata". Etc. There is some variation in this ofc, and Aonishiki is "exotic" enough not to give such answers.
As they roll out on the car, they usually give three "BANZAI"s. This haven't been quite good now.

From yesterday.
Wakatakakage vs Onosato
Mentioned both rikishis already just search their names. The yokozunas are matched up with the top rankers until they finally face each other. Onosato got Wakatakakage at maegishra #1. Last basho Onosato had an injured left arm (I think I seem to recoll he went into every bout with right side forward) still pulled a 10 wins. Wkage reached a final 9-6 which is an okay score.
This bout ends quickly and dramatically.
Fujinokawa vs Takayasu
Fujinokawa is the youngest and one of the smallest rikishi. He is really good he is high in the banzuke (toplist). His opponent was Takayasu, one of the most experienced fighter, skilled too. And larger than Fujinowaka. They never met before this bout. Except probably on training matches.
The bout is intense and quick, but not overly short. Showcases the importance of balance and footing. Also note how Fujinokawa denies Takayas' grabbing his mawashi. The mawashi is important to get a hold on the opponent and move him about.
Kirishima vs Tummyfuji
Kirishima is on an "ozeki run" which means he needs to collect 33 points in 3 consecutive bashos to get promoted to ozeki. He got 22 in the previous two, so he needs 11 more this time.
Tummyfuji is a relative newcomer, 23 years old. He has some talents, but due to changes in his stable his growth was hampered. Probably had some minor injuries too. He had a really noticable stagefright when he rose in the ranks to the makuuchi division. He probably will have a breddy gud career.
Very good rassling. But Kirishima had the initiative. The finishing move is a spectacular throw.
Yesterday juryo (second division) was very interesting, lively. It's a hard pick.
Kotokuzan vs Fujitensei
Juryo is the division where battered, aging veterans meet with the rising talent. First group is on its way towards lower divisions and retirement eventually, and the latter is heading upstairs into makuuchi. Kinda.
Kotokzuan is a veteran, he had a brief visit in makuuchi some times ago, but he was fighting downstairs in makushita for a while too. He is relatively unremarkable.
Fujitensei is very young, 19! Newcomer to professional sumo (comes from amateur, probably a champion of sort) which his short hair shows too, and he seems very promising. I'm worried about his left elbow tho.

Ura vs Tamawashi
Quite some Ura bouts here.
Oldboy, how I call Tamawashi, is the oldest of all. 41 years old, I think he is a record holder with this age. He also holds the record of longest consecutive bouts, not sure if he ever missed a bout. Health like steel.
Not a big bout but very nice regular moves. Also Ura bendy like rubber.
Kazuma vs Kazekeno
Yesterday wasn't too spectacular. Usually the middle of the basho is less energetic, the rikishis start to conserve their strength. I picked this low ranking bout, for false start, length, intensity, and the unpredictability.
Both rasslers are fairly young, towards the end of the juryo banzuke.
Check Kazuma's record. He looks quite promising, he did quite good in the lower ranks. He is probably coming from amateur sumo, where he competed with great results. He entered pro-sumo, but after his debut, he had to miss 4 tournaments. That's a lot. I assume injury. So he had to restart from lower ranks, he skyrocketed into Juryo just within 4 tournaments. His juryo debut wasn't shiny, only a 8-7, but now he seems doing good.
Kazekeno is really meh.

Fairly short bouts both.
Gonoyama is doing quite well this basho. He can be good, he had some problems prior. I heard many don't like him for he is quite aggressive and attacks chin, throat. I have no problems with him. Funny name, NattoSumo noted when he changed his shikona (ring name):

And from today Ura vs Roga.
Roga is a Tuwan Mongol from Russia. Japanese pro-sumo is very diverse. They have Mongols from Mongolia, Mongols from China, Mongols from Russia, Mongols from Kazakhstan, Mongols from... everywhere.
He is not bad since he made it to makuuchi, but he won't be ever a top guy, he is camping around M10.
Ura vs Hakunofuji
Hakunofuji - originally Hakuoho - is struggling with injury and changing stables. Sadly him and his oyakata, Terunofuji, had a difference of views and Teru hit him, hurt him in a way, the details are fuzzy, Teru got scolded by the committee of elders. I things will work out, Hakunofuji is a real good rikishi.
All right today a real bout with yokozuna Hoshoryu.
Hoshoryu vs Kirishima
Kirishima is the leading rikishi now, had the most points. Hosh just one point behind, and the basho ends on Sunday. The balance of their previous meetings is balanced, slightly favoring Hosh. Stakes were high. Kirishima is on an "ozeki run" aiming for 33 points (or more) in 3 consecutive tournaments, he had 22 at the start and gathered 10 till today. Hoshoryu still not won a yusho (tournament championship) since he was promoted to yokozuna.
This bout was the most important of the day.
Abi vs Asanoyama
Abi is injured, his back is all taped up so I guess it's something there. He had to sit out 5 days, those are automatic losses.
Asanoyama, the former ozeki seems recovered from his injury (broken leg) and he is climbing back towards the top of the banzuke. I have my doubt he can go to the near top. He is getting old, and too many younger talent around there.
These two are surprisingly similar, in age and size. Even their best is close and their ratio of winning. But they have absolutely different fighting styles, Abi's is very distinctive, and Asanoyama beat Abi twice as often then not.
Haru Basho is concluded. The yusho goes to: Kirishima

Today's pick from juryo
Dewanoryu vs Takerufuji
Dewanoryu is somwhat of a surprise, he didn't look this promising from previous results. But we'll see what he can reach.
Taker is a curious case, he won a spectacular yusho when he entered makuuchi division for the first time. He looked unstoppable, but later couldn't reproduce the success. Now he is after an injury recovering, doesn't shine as he should.
I picked this bout for it's not just good lively for a juryo bout, but the elders suspected a hairpull done by Taker, which is forbidden and results in invalidating the result and auto win for the opponent. It is a hard to see if they push the head, neck, or hold their hair. This time Taker did no foul and indeed he won the bout.

The questions are fairly formulaic they often return in each interview, and replies are similar. There are things that is expected to say.

But all rikishis are a bit different. They might joke, or even getting a bit emotional, or be a bit boastive.

Tobizaru vs Wakanosho
Tobizaru had some cold streak previously, probably some injury, now he shines.
Wakanosho is a young talent he also had an injury to recover from, but he's doing swell since.
Henka is the sidestep performed right at the tachi-ai. Instead of going in with a charge the rikishi moves out of the way of the charging opponent, usually they add a slap, or grab their pantsu to "help them out" of the dohyo or push them onto the ground. Also I think they have to make contact. It is frowned upon and they don't do it all the time, but it can be damn spectacular.
Another fun bout by Fujinokawa and Ura. They have fun bouts separately and now great show together. While the large tanks can do brutal things, the smaller, agile fighters have more lively and entertaining bouts.
I'm sad for Fujinokawa this is his 8th loss in the tournament, which means he will probably get demoted couple of places. Not horrible tho.
Omori vs Ikarigata
This is an unusual one. It's not from the usual two top divisions we watch the bouts from. This is one of the bouts from makushita playoffs. There seven rikishis gained equal amount of points so they had to fight each other for the yusho.
I picked this bout for two reasons. Check out Omori's short hair. Almost bald. Well not really.
The second for the finish. Breddy gud.
It's rare to see a child in that part of the arena.
There are uh, booth or whatever for families, larger groups around up higher. Kids are usually there. Ringside is more like for lone people or people in couples and such. It's for those who really wanna watch the bouts, since kids are distracting.
Funny some of the loudest fans who shout names of the rikishis are often kids. And old guys with croaky voice.
I'm gonna try uploading again the last bout that decided the fate of the yusho.
Kirishima vs Wakatakakage
The former is ozeki now, so it is expected from him to perform well (10+ wins) he also might have ambitions for the yokozuna title. He is not as good however. Sadly even some of the yokozunas aren't that stellar. Basically the top ten guys or so are essentially the same quality.
But maybe expectations are higher because Hakuho was legendary, strong, quick, and skilled, and Terunofuji in his best was a beast who could just throw out everyone but Granma Ichinojo, parameters: 190cm, 210 kg.
