Can we agree on a civilized way of communicating with each other, that is, that we refrain from insults as well as other rudeness?

We Bernds should build eachother up instead of trying to bring eachother down, we're a community of people that don't fit in anywhere so it makes more sense to have a feeling of mutual respect and unity instead of animosity and hostility.
I support your thread and hope to see more like it in the future.
Regards, hugbox appreciation Bernd.

Thank you for your support. I generally agree with your notion, although I think that our sympathy for each other should not hinder us from criticizing each other, when it's necessary. There is a form of civil and fruitful form of discussion we should strive to.

There's criticism and there's constructive criticism, I do agree that while we should not feel hesitant to oppose an idea, it can be done in a manner that is mutually beneficial for all parties involved. We should prioritize a form of communication that while being free to disagree, to do it in a fashion that has a mindset where the person you might potentially be disagreeing with still withholds the idea that doesn't negate one's potential to bring forward a rational and cohesive argument. By adopting a mentality which can be said to be a respectful one which doesn't dehumanize and belittle someone else's point of view, there is a larger possibility for productive interactions between different people. Worthwhile discussions are built on the premise that there are other individuals with different opinions that are just as valid as yours. If you decide to insult someone, you are taking a position where you don't consider a counter-argument to be able to influence your own point of view, thusly taking away the ability to allow for discussions that can be considered productive and intellectually stimulating.

Fuck your fascist shit thread, insults and rudeness are expressions of freedom. Don't suppress your emotions, let it out and be honest. I don't trust people who are always polite and friendly, because secretly they have far worse thoughts than anybody being rude to you

I pretend to be somebody else when posting insults, you little shit.

I'm truly sorry but I have to agree with this meanie. While he's being excessively rude and slightly inappropriate, he's totally right that freedom of speech is required for any society to be healthy and trustful. Therefore I'd like to reserve a right for me (and any other Bernd as I believe in equal rights) to express insults and other rudeness, even if I'm not going to use it.

There’s a limit of freedom of speech though. And that limit is when you hurt and abuse other people through your language.
NetherlandsBernd2023-02-18 21:38:40 · 3yNo. 255936reply
I know it may hurt and it's terrible indeed. But unfortunately people are hurting each other sometimes regardless of all the limits you set thus I believe it's better and fair when it's allowed in speech. It helps to prevent uncontrolled outbreakes which may hurt people much more.
Insults are just symptoms that the person is damaged (and it's not uncommon in Bernds), you can't just force people to fix themselves, it would only break them worse.

it isn't a hugbox if you're fucking merciless to those who disrupt notre sanctuaire ancien

i ceased to respect that reasoning when rudeness online became a coping mechanism for those whose maverick sense of humour and means of communication was misfitted to the dogmatic and obligatory EMPATHY AND COMPASSION of these monstrous times in which we find ourselves.
would much rather we maintain a certain standard on this site, toward a day where free expression isn't corralled and contained to the internet, and joges may flow once more like wine.
shitting down one another's throats is small in every sense of the word while we are made to feign politeness toward those who really don't deserve it in person.
it is not so much a limit as an agreement, for bernd to assure bernd that no, it is funny and will always be funny. transgression is funny, but funnier still when in the flesh
