Since the last reading thread is too old to bump now, let's continue here. Yesterday I started reading "Marx, Wagner, Nietzsche. Welt im Umbruch." (Marx, Wagner, Nietzsche. World in upheaval.) by Herfried Münkler and I'm already 70 pages in. The author attempts to compare the views and positions of Wagner, Marx, and Nietzsche on the basis of various thematic complexes. He also shows how the three thinkers adapted ideas from each other. I love this kind of book, where I as a reader can simply follow the lives of great men and immerse myself in their world of ideas based on quotes from them.

do you ever read fiction?
GermanyBernd2023-01-01 10:06:24 · 3yNo. 246585reply
Of course, as you can see from the last thread >>240344. I mainly read fiction, so I haven't read any non-fiction in a while. I'm glad to have chosen this book though, non-fiction is kind of refreshing.

1984? It's alright. You could try reading "Animal Farm" before. It's shorter, is a nice fable with animals and already conveys some of the ideas of 1984.

what's your favorite book?
GermanyBernd2023-01-01 10:22:13 · 3yNo. 246597reply
I don't have one favorite book, there are a few that qualify. The poetry of Friedrich Hölderlin is probably some of the most beautiful literature I've ever read and I always keep it with me. For novels, I really like "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse and "Homo Faber" by Max Frisch. Anything by Hesse goes really. Although I read "Stoner" just recently, I have to say it is a meticulously crafted novel and I enjoyed it quite a lot, so I might count it to my favorites.

What are your reading plans for 2023, Bernds? I'm still assmad about the absurdly high book prices in Germany, because we have pic related.

I have read some books so far in 2023, I mention them.
>The pimp | Mabel Lozano
>Prostitution contributions for an open debate
>Introduction to communism | Roberto Vaquero
>Short essays | nietzsche

I read Dostoyevsky's classic books a long time ago such as "Crime and Punishment" and "The Karamazov Brothers" and a poem where he talks about a feeling of human beings
Some books that I have read I do not remember very well, I remember a few years ago that I read a couple of electronic books by a Uruguayan author
