Anytime a cashier or other service employee tries to make small talk with me anything beyond:
>hello
>how are you?
Or
>did you find everything ok?

I make an effort to avoid avoid visiting that establishment in the future. I have programmed responses in my brain to respond to these aforementioned statements/questions but anything beyond that and I get heatenings and have trouble formulating a response. Maybe asking about the weather is ok sometimes too if it's snowing or icy, then I can say something along the lines of "haha yeah it's getting nasty out there" or "yeah it's a bit slippery"

Ii suffer greatly as assburger in country with culture of mindless smalltalk. I wish I lived in finland or something

Just always respond with "oh yeah it's slippery" no matter what they ask and they will stop talking to you.

What if in response you mumble incomprehensibly like a delusional 95 y.o.?

Interesting, cashiers usually don’t make smalltalk here in Germany and I’m thankful for it. Smalltalk is the worst.

yep, same here; the only things I say to them is hello and goodbye; I also avoid looking directly at them because it feels weird and I just stare into space while they scan my items

I sometimes start small talk with cashiers, r8

Often they seem to be happy about me approaching them like other humans and not a vending machine.

Sometimes I experience other people in front of me in the line that try to start small talk with the cashier. I always find this extremely cringy, the topics are never interesting, and it reduces the efficiency of the cashier thus stealing my time. So it is annoying for me on top of that.

Having autism in the US is true suffering. Americans are expected to be loudly extroverted and there's supposed to be a Friends-style sitcom joke every 10 seconds for everyone to fake laugh at. It's like being in hell. I wish I was born in a true autism country like Germany or Finland.

have you been actually diagnosed?

My family was extremely poor when I was growing up.
One time I broke my arm at the elementary school playground and my dad refused to take me to the hospital because we "couldn't afford it." He sat me at the kitchen table and got my sister, who was left-handed, to try and teach me how to write with my left hand "while it healed." After 2 days my mom eventually just said fuck it and took me and almost left him over this.
Taking me to a psychologist for any reason at all is not something that was anywhere in our universe. I have zero doubt that I am severely autistic though, almost stereotypically so, all the signs were there, especially as a child.

That's just the kind of stuff that happens when you're poor. I don't have bad feelings towards my dad, he was just a massive poorfag and constantly angry about it. I'm sure if we had money he would have taken me lol.

how do you feel about universal health care?
TaiwanBernd2022-12-27 17:16:42 · 4yNo. 245533reply
I don't really care if I live or die so it seems out of place for me to have opinions on social issues. That's always been my position.
