I told her that I didn't want her friendship but she keeps talking to me. I asked her if she was talking to me out of pity and she got upset because of my question. I discussed it with my mother about never having had a girlfriend at 21. She said "it will come when you least expect it". But I console myself by telling myself that anyway I wouldn't have time to devote to a girl.

maybe she genuinely wants to be friends with you, women often want that when they're not interested in a romantic relationship with someone; but if that is not something you want then she should respect that; if she keeps talking to you then tell her again that you don't want to be her friend and ignore her from that point forward (it kinda sounds like she likes the attention she's getting from you, but I don't know her and that is not a very nice thing to assume)
