Well it's not the thread for this, but I present the future to mull over. Right now Ukraine is fighting for national sovereignty and the preservation of current borders. But this is how things will go down:
After the war in however Ukraine will look like (maybe lost territories, maybe not, doesn't matter) she will be accepted into EU. Then EU will dissolve the member states, terminating all nations sovereignty, turning the thing into supra-national state. This means there will be no Ukraine and Ukrainian nation anymore (no Hungary or Germany, etc, you get the picture). But this will be ok, because it is done by enlightened and wealthy West.
To make this happen, Brussels will pitch against each other the nations first, so they'll be busy, and they can be voted down. In fact they make the ethnicities so angry against each other that there will be no way to make amends, extending olive branches, or coming to compromises. In fact they'll be ready to act as an occupational force against the rebellious nations inside who doesn't want the centralization, and who want to preserve nation states within the EU. A cudgel in the hand of the suits running the Brusselian scheme.
You aren't aware of United States of Europe, the centralization efforts and dreams? The EU is going through the same changes that happened in all federal states, the Americas are full of this examples. They had their centralization-decentralization struggles. But Spain is the same if you want a closer example to home. And the Russian Federation (ok Spain and the Russian Federation took different paths but still).

Feudalism was built on personal ties of individuals. HRE is very bad parallel.
Consider that right now we have bunch of supra-national entities we work for already, and we get services from; national economies are jokes basically no importance next to the common EU market and especially to global economy. Have EU institutions in place that can take over the role of local govenrments, common defense force in the pipes, in foreign relations now simple majority is enough, don't need unanimous decisions, etc. Now that corona and war showed the importance of banding together and the unified actions they'll push for more concentrated power.
There are voices against but from countries of no importance, like Italy, Hungary, and Poland. Without real weight, no real counterbalance can form, to change the course or even slow it down.
