Oh boy, I'm sure glad I don't use Torrent!
Do you use a music streaming service or are you still torrenting like 20 years ago? Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Streaming is comfortable and easy, it doesn’t require any storage space. But it lacks quality and you don’t own the music (files). You also have to pay. Torrenting gives you more freedom, but it’s a bigger hassle and you need to have enough space and a good music management system. Officially torrenting music is also illegal. So how do you get your music in 2022?
I use and pay for spotify for almost a year now.
I listen to it all the time from my pc at work. I wouldn't copy torrented music there. Also it used to be such a pain in the ass to copy music to my smartphone every couple of weeks and I can use it on all my devices. I really enjoy the ease of it.
Only downside is that I can only download germ audiobooks and no english ones. Also they don't have some older stuff from bands that don't exist anymore.
There is a problem in all the streaming services. The shit I like bards and minstrels is usually amateurishly recorded on a slipper twenty-thirty years ago, and has so narrow target audience, that it's no streaming service with it.
Social networks like VK are a good option in this case, as I can upload my favorite shit there and use it as a streamer, but VK is very greedy nowadays.
1) Download Nicotine+
2) Maybe get a VPN (Mullvad) setup portforwarding on the VPN and use the same port in Nicotine settings
3) Setup some files you want to share(you don't have to, but some uploaders ban non-sharing users (can just get a new username to circumvent though)
4) Search for music and download
There once was a KhC room on Soulseek. Maybe we could get one going here too
Music streaming is like paying to shit at a public toilet. Sure, they might need to mony to clean the toilet once in a while, but sometimes you need to take the shit right in front of the entrance just to show them that that prices are too high and that taking a shit in a public bathroom should be a human right and not a paid privilege.
