I don't think so. The term dox or doxxing has been around since the early 2000s and that's going on my personal memory of things. Forums, early 4chan, IRC, and so on. It actually wouldn't surprise me if that goes back even further to the 1990s but I was too young, then.
AustraliaBernd2022-08-03 07:52:38 · 4yNo. 209284reply
the term was used widespread across internet in last year. how can you be ignorant?
SloveniaBernd2022-08-03 08:38:23 · 4yNo. 209287reply
That's not the contention, it's about the erroneous backformation.
The correct verb is "to dox" but in participles this becomes "doxxing", "doxxed" because of doubling after short vowel (as in "drop", "dropped" - though technically this is not needed in case of x - "fix", "fixed").
Backformation into "doxx" is considered a newfig thing, has been so since 2008 or so.

wrong. leetspeek from the early internet had haxx0rs and haxx. don't assume you know shit when you don't and don't look into it
SloveniaBernd2022-08-03 14:50:30 · 4yNo. 209337reply
that's not how dox was used tho, again this is newfiggotry trying to apply logic from haxx to a word where it doesn't apply traditionally

Note i looked it up now for backup purposes, and never once before now. I was 100% reliant on my intuition for the above.
