What I liked the most when I went to the Dominican Republic is to see that the girls loved my hair because most of them had very frizzy hair, it was almost like an obsession they had with caressing my head. And they all tried to speak English just to sympathize with me.

It's not only that, in other places in Latin America that I have been there was not as much obsession about my hair or my eyes as in the Dominican Republic, I think there is a certain self-righteousness, I saw many dark-skinned people considered brown or Indian simply for not having hair like a sponge and they were offended if you said they were black.

In the Dominican Republic I was in Punta Cana and in the capital Santo Domingo.

I might be biased because some members of my family are blonde and have colored eyes, but I haven't seen that sort of obsession with people. I'd say that they are just interested because you look exotic to them or maybe because you're foreing.
