According to German newspaper Bild, about 1/3 of Germans have problems getting food with the current inflation (16% have to leave out a meal to make ends meet, 13% are considering it).

Discuss.

While I'm not poor, I'm trying to live frugally to be able to flee this madhouse some day, so I started ordering some groceries at somewhat German prices and bolster myself with some supplies to hedge against further inflation which I suspect will keep increasing prices.

Do you know a German online shop that doesn't have a dedicated Austrian domain too?
I compared prices between DM.at and DM.de and lentils for example are 40% more expensive just because I'm order from and to Austria.
Now for regular shops they are even 100% more expensive then in Germany, so there' s already a gain to be had, but I'd like to enjoy real German prices and delivery to my home.

Also I'm not ballsy enough for stealing.
Too much on the line if you aren't at the bottom already.

Groceries on the Germoney are cheaper than in Clobenia, this is absurd.
Maybe the problem is too high rent.

I think it is people that don't know how to use their money because they usually had too much of it. I can not imagine to live in this country and not be able to afford basic groceries.

But now that a kebab costs 6-7 euros instead of 4,50, I see why some people have to change their way of life.

Your statement is proof enough you never actually lived in the DDR.

Neither did you. I lived next door though.

Half my family is from the DDR and they told me all about it, they weren't commies either, just regular citizens. And that they weren't able to afford basic groceries is just a lie by the West to defame DDR, sure, the DDR didn't have any exotic products, but basic needs were satisfied and everything was incredibly cheap.

Yugoslavia had world's highest calorie consumption per capita. Just for perspective.

Hungary had her first (and for now, last) famine in her history in the early 1950s, during the years of Stalinist forced industrialization. After '56, they changed much. Food (or any basic needs) wasn't a problem.
