GermanyIWO: Döberitzer HeideBernd2022-06-05 14:01:48 · 4yNo. 161151reply
Today I hiked through the Döberitzer Heide. It is a beautiful nature reserve at the outskirts of Berlin. I will post some photos I took.

Note: I know there's /out/, but I don't think my thread will do any harm on /int/, if it's not allowed, just move it to /out/

The weather was beautiful. A bit too hot (around 25°) and sunny for my taste, but it was still an enjoyable hike.

I like the idea of using /out/ if only because threads will stay up there longer

That's true, well, in the worst case, such threads could be moved at a later point.

You might have noticed the fences in some of the photos. These are there, because at the core of the Döberitzer Heide there is a wild life and nature reserve, sadly you rarely see any wild animals. But apparently there is even a pack of wolves in the region.

Some flowers at the side of the road.
SpainBernd2022-06-05 15:07:05 · 4yNo. 161198reply
Those flowers are Papaver rhoeas, you can prepare a relaxing infusion with its leaves and seeds.

>Papaver rhoeas
In German we call it Klatschmohn

Is there asparagus in that area?
When it's the season I love to pick asparagus.
GermanyBernd2022-06-05 15:09:47 · 4yNo. 161203reply
No and even if it were, you wouldn't be allowed to just pick it, it belongs to the farmer who planted it. I don't think there's wild asparagus in Germany.

Oh, I see. Here there are also private areas but you can ask the owner for permission.
GermanyBernd2022-06-05 15:13:43 · 4yNo. 161206reply
I guess, theoretically you could ask the owner here as well, but I would be surprised if he'd let you pick it for free.

Chances are this was a battlefield in the past

It was once a military training area.
