I would recommend getting a private tutor, if you have the money for it. If you don't, take a language course or join a language class. If that's still too expensive, then learn basic vocabulary and grammar through the internet and immerse yourself in German content, read German books, listen to German music, watch German videos and so on

I took German as 2nd foreign language in school.

But it's not that hard for us, because there's several aspects in which Slovene takes over from German. Some constructions are direct parallels of German, and we also know many words from colloquial language (technical vocabulary and common household items usually have german names besides the "correct" Slovene ones.)

Would you have served in Slovensko domobranstvo, if you had been alive at the time?

Rammstein is a good choice, they use relatively simple language & pronounce clearly.

And we watched German movies in school at German classes sometimes. Der Untergang was the high point.

Self-hating germ is even worse

I'm not even self hating.

I just happened to have grown up in different places around the world and imo the german language is great in describing facts but sucks in expressing emotions.

That's why it feels bland to me - more like a well crafted tool than words coming from my heart.

Yet Die Leiden des jungen Werthers was written on German.

Read the poems written by Friedrich Hölderlin and if that won't change your opinion, nobody can help you

It's a difficult language, if you don't have any practical goal nor German-speaking friends you won't learn a thing.

Are you trolling? Of course, nobody talks like a 18th century poet. But it shows you what this language is capable of and it surely isn't bland.
