Did you ever toke part in internet or "nerd" culture in public?

For example I went to Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments because of a friend who introduced me. I really disliked the otakus, female attentionwhores and generally weird people there but still like the game and play it online.

 

There is a LoL e-sport team now in my district, Eintracht Spandau, and they even have a pub which people attend to watch their games, drink beer, etc. I play LoL myself so I thought about going there but I fear that I make the same experience again and meet mostly cringy people like girls with green hair, soyboys, attentionwhores, etc.
