Would it be entirely stupid to learn Japanese language? Has bernd tried to learn Japanese?

>Would it be entirely stupid to learn Japanese language?
Yes, except you can use it in some kind of job. Otherwise I guess it's just a really draining hobby.
My cousin learned japanese (he is not a weeb) and studied it at university but he didn't really got a well paid job.

I guess there are some jobs you could get if you work for an european company in Japan like interpreter

An english teacher gets around 2000€ per month in Japan and I am not sure if you need to even speak fluent English or have a degree. Living appears to be something like 1300€-1600€

But japanese teachers work like slaves. Many get burnout
It's not easy life like being teacher in europe

When you do something for your own enjoyment, it's never stupid. If you are interested in the culture or you want to read and watch untranslated anime and manga, go for it.
>Has bernd tried to learn Japanese?
Currently learning it, yeah, just to have something in life. I don't know what I will do with it in the future, but learning a language is always good, a nice skill to have.

If you're planning on moving to Japan to work as a teacher, I suggest that you first watch some videos by people who've made that experience. They usually report feeling isolated and alienated, because no matter how much they try to integrate into Japanese society, they're still treated as foreigners and excluded from many social events. I remember one person saying that people stared at him and stopped talking when he entered into a bar. Also, from what I've heard, everyone is overworked in Japan, I think they even have a name for it, it's some kind of syndrome. Chinese would probably be a better investment for your time, lots more opportunities.
FinlandBernd2022-03-20 15:33:53 · 4yNo. 142156reply
I guess a programmer would have just as much difficulty in integrating to the society?

Sounds like usual imageboard user
> everyone is overworked
Sounds like usual USA experience. China is the same btw, both regarding overwork and isolation.

Does a place like this still exist somewhere in Europe? Imagine.

My guess is that he'd have even more difficulty, due to the antisocial nature of his job. You might as well just find some online job that lets you work with Japanese companies.

I heard that French people can be quite cold and hostile with foreigners.

What did he mean by this?
GermanyYES, it is stupidBernd2022-03-20 15:48:42 · 4yNo. 142166reply
I learned it when I was ~13/14 and still speak it fluently 10 years later but it is not very useful.
It merely is a nice to have skill but I'd exchange my Japanese anytime for Arabic or Chinese fluency.

If I were to list up the pros I experienced:

- It is a beautiful and emotional language which makes it more fun for me to read in it than in Deutsch. If you are in for the weeb media, it definitely is more enjoyable in original language because whole layers of emotions and meanings get lost in the translations.
- The Japanese internet is a fun place to be, I liked lurking 2chan back in the days and they have some really good YouTubers, I get a lot of music theory wisdom from there for example.
- I guess knowing languages keeps your brain active...? And you can watch Hentai without subs.

But that's it.
Is above worth putting in countless of hours as an adult? I doubt it.

Not true at all if you know the language and aren't socially retarded which is sadly the case of most whitos who decide to go there.

Still propably nothing for me because I am not that interested into anime stuff

Can you post on some Japanese imageboards? Haven't tried on 2ch but I believe on 5ch it is impossible if you are from Europe

Who wants to go Japan? Weebs.

>I went to Japan and couldn't make any friends
<It's the countries fault and not mine

The Japanese are very open towards foreigners, especially whites, and if you try to learn their language and still can not make friends, that makese you a social outcast which you likely were aswell in your home country.
Why run away to animeland anyawy? Yeah because life at home sucks and as for whitos that is not for economic reasons.

Some threads made it into books and movies.
Story telling is quite big there and I wish it were a thing here too. Like, OP writes a story, usually only people having a conversation or smth in first person mode and others comment and share their thoughts.
FinlandBernd2022-03-20 16:00:51 · 4yNo. 142175reply
Well in fact I am not a weeb though I like anime quite much. Pretty average socially really. I am not entirely sure why I am interested in Japan. It just sounds like such an epic and based nation.

Take a month to travel there and explore everything, that's my hint.

Which is the hardest part? Is it the insane alphabet?

I think I would have the chance to learn the alphabet pretty fast because I have good memory. I can make a 30 letter long password consisting only of random numbers and letters in both cases and memorize it in a half a day. After a month of using it I might remember it 3 years later.

Also I believe I am naturally good in learning languages, I learnt Swedish and German pretty fast considering how few effort I put into them. But maybe if Japanese has retarded grammar I am not sure then.
GermanyBernd2022-03-20 16:15:58 · 4yNo. 142179reply
grammer is super easy
words are very different (obviously)
alphabet just takes a shit ton of time but it isn't hard either, friendly reminder that low IQ bydlo japanese can also read

You make it sound like it was an easy language in general. Shouldn't be as far as I know.
GermanyBernd2022-03-20 16:28:38 · 4yNo. 142183reply
stupid people think that different = hard because they can not think out of the box

but since you are a fin there are good news:
japanese grammar is similar to yours, they also stick all kind of information in the ending of words and make them longer and longer.

taberu = to eat
tabenai = to not eat
tabetai = to want to eat
tsberareru = to be eaten
tabesaseru = to make sm. eat / let sm. eat
tabesaserareta = was forced to eat
tabenakerebanaranakatta = should have eaten

etc...
