There were even nipples in my 3d model but at this size some details are lost

Epilog Zing 24, i found used chasis with working card and step motors (guy was cutting PVC, the process creates sulphuric acid which ate parts of the air exhaust but mechanics were all right) for 1,5k $, bought new lenses and mirrors and original epilog laser tube for 3k $. Then had to install ventilators to suck the air out.
Its the lowest power, 30W, but its good enough for my purposes, cuts plywood just fine, its just not the demon of speed.

Are you making money with this, or is it just a hobby?
PolandBernd2022-02-18 12:04:02 · 4yNo. 137073reply
I hope it will become both but for now its more of a hobby than full time job, im offering laser cutting services so that the machine doesnt simply stand still and pays itself back little by little
But to survive im doing some 3D modelling for the jewellers, 2D animations and this kind of more or less freelancing jerbs.

Good luck, art pole. You're making cool stuff and I hope you succeed.

The hardest is to get started, once you did something and people were happy about it they will suggest you to someone else.

But best is to know personally someone who already makes money like that and can outsource some of his work first to you, then you start to work directly.

Thats how i managed to land a cooperation with a jeweller, i was working for some girls who needed help in creating pendants, jeweler guy liked by projects and now orders things from me once per month.
GermanyBernd2022-02-23 09:22:10 · 4yNo. 138050reply
Very interesting. What kinds of things do you do for a jeweler, if you don't mind telling us? Do you make physical things or just drawings/designs?
PolandBernd2022-02-23 18:17:44 · 4yNo. 138142reply
I made both the designs and 3d models for them.
Nothing original but it was kinda fun to work in such a small scale
