>How did you do it
I'm not sure, just sent a lot of messages first, and then skyped a lot. It was very natural. I supposing being "normal" and having decent profile pictures was important.
>Did you contact them or did they contact you
They both contacted me after I viewed their profile. For the first girl, the Malaysian, I was in Malaysia at the time and she asked what I thought of her city (KL). So we met up and we had a lot in common. I wasn't as nice to her as I should have been at the end of our relationship and I regret that a lot. The Singaporean girl I started talking to towards the end of my relationship of the Malaysian girl, and my attraction to the Singaporean girl caused me to break up with the Malaysian one. Once again, I wasn't as nice to the Singaporean girl at the end of our relationship as I should have been. The girl I cheated on her with and left her for eventually broke up with me and told me she was gay, which was the 2 out of 3 times that has happened.
>Was there an intention of getting a relationship
Not at first and it developed over time. I think you have to understand that people who are on that site are fairly lonely and are specifically looking for someone to talk to. Lots just want postcards and letters, but I feel an equal amount are searching for *something* which equates to a relationship.
I never really think long distance relationships work, and I think they partially start due to how each party feels isolated and alone, and feels as though they can only make a connection with a total stranger on the internet. But that's just my take.
I was friends with a German in Kansas City who moved to the US and married a girl he met on Interpals, and I found out because I met him on oldKC. I think they divorced though.
