How to keep your room tidy?

Share your lifehacks please.

Even if I clean everything, after a week it looks like this again. I only use this room to sleep so I see no reason to keep it tidy but I'd prefer waking up in a clean room.

put things in their designated places after you use them

Sort all the clutter on your desk into transparent plastic boxes. Thank me later.

the main problem I have is clothes

why put them in the cupboard if I have to take them out again anyway? it is literally 2 useless steps of work because I can just put the laundry box on the ground

Same, use chair for this

>cupboard
A cupboard for clothes is called a wardrobe. Don't use a wardrobe, use pic related instead (what is this called in english?). You can even put clothes there to dry.

I've never seen this in a private home before in my life.

Problem with this is long term, your clothes will gather a visible and stubborn layer of dust. Which is a problem for clothes that are not washing machine friendly, like suits.

Form habits. They take time and effort to form, but once you do them, they are quite self sustaining.
Clean every single day something in your apartment. Even if it's just moving one object from place A to B.
How much you actually clean each day is not nearly as important, than actually cleaning every single day.
If you keep doing it for long enough, you will start to feel "weird" and like "there's something wrong" if you haven't cleaned today.

damn, so this is where these weird pieces of dust/dirt on my hoodies are coming from?

does this work for you or is it just theory?

It does.
One example of this is quite simple, but demonstrates how the instinct to repeat the habit activates even in irrational situations:
I was quite paranoid of forgetting my keys and not being able to get back into my apartment again, so i made myself physically touch my keys before closing the front door every single time i left my apartment. Some years ago our apartment complex installed us new doors, and for like a day the doors were installed, but none had any locks in them.
As i was leaving my apartment, i still had to touch my keys before closing the door, eventhough the doors had no locks in them.

Another time i went out to take out the trashbag into the trashbin, while i had a friend inside my apartment. At the door i realized that i didn't have my keys so i couldn't touch them before closing the door, and i couldn't be arsed to go find them, as i could just leave the door open or ring the door bell to get back in.
But because of my self-conditioning the whole way to the trashbin felt the same like i had left the stove on, and i had this feeling of absolute dread of getting locked out of my apartment.

I shall try this... Just 1 item from A to B / day.

That's barely a mess, more of an unstructured room.
Do as the others have said and create a schedule and routine of keeping your room in shape.
I thankfully have so little my major concern is buying groceries and going out to get some basic exercise.

just vacuum it off, lol, if you're worried about dust i hope you never check the top and back of your wardrobe...

its dont

This is something I seriously need in my room, in fact just having a wardrobe only for stuff I am currently wearing would be good too (and storage wardrobe is somewhere away)
