Hatred against people based on race or other characteristics is in some way an understandable result of xenophobia, which is a relatively normal human thing. It's not great, but it has reasons and will always be something humanity will have to deal with.
Antisemitism is different in a couple of ways. It is not just an aversion to people who are visibly different from you. Antisemites often go to great lengths to identify Jews or perceived Jews even though you normally couldn't really tell that they are any different from their neighbours. Antisemitism is also for the most part about weird conspiracy theories that have little or no base in reality and are more or less the same shit since the middle ages.
