I kinda want to quit being a code monkey working for rich motherfuckers and study psychology instead and become a therapist. Male therapists are rare in germany even though more men suffer from depression.

t. self cured hard depression years ago and happy ever since

Cure my depression please.
GermanyBernd2021-09-28 13:09:25 · 5yNo. 123504reply
i'd like to do that rather than what i'm doing now

however I fucked up my Abitur due to 404 life caused vidya addiction and the NC for psychology is high
now I am a lot more mature and I could really do the degree if I could just get in

there are universities who don't require a gpod Abi but they are not for free

what can i do?

People don't go to therapists in Russia because they can always call friends and get shitfaced together.

I lived a long life full of adventures until arrow pierced my knee and I can definitely tell you what makes you happy
1. Free time, don't spend all your time at work, you will gain nothing
2. People around you, your family and friends. Even you are autistic enough and prefer to be alone(like me) it's easier when you feel invisible support
3. Nature, people suffer without it, get some hobbie like trail running, cross country biking or fishing.
And coding is good job, leaving it will be your mistake.

i had similar ambitions a while back until i came in contact with the people who i found out are fighting to be miserable as if their life depends on it.

also the system is not meant to heal people but to make people to function mostly, even here. in other places it is way worse i assume though not sure.

Maybe it does. What if they are unable to keep their life in balance when they try to be happy? What kind of ambitions did you have if such an observation is enough to put you off? Did you think you could cure depression by telling people to smile more or just be themselves...?

If you wanna go down this way, better start saving for buying your Kassensitz if you don't plan to only help the wealthy/well off Privatversichterten (in your Privatpraxis) and don't live in Bumfuck Nowhere. Kassensitze (so that you can bill with gesetzliche Krankenkassen) can cost several ten thousand Euros if you take Berlin or Hamburg for example.

Addendum: Btw in 2021 it is not necessary anymore to do a Psychology bachelor, then master and then your therapist school which all together can take like 10 or more years, but you can study 'psychotherapy' directly nowadays

Just because it tries to not look like the joke it actually is, psychology is not a science.
no psychology “experiment” is reproducible, and it doesn’t exactly have clear terminology either. See 'happiness research' fucking kek. If you can't deal with that fact, check your penis envy, Oedipus.

Wrong
And it follows that it is a science

1) just because an idea was presented by a psychologist doesn't mean that it's supposed to a "law" of psychology
2) what other, more scientifically rigorous ideas do you have for modeling tge human hierarchy of needs

What kind of codemonkey are you?
Maybe just dig deeper to discover lost passion.
I try and learn new shit constanly.
On the other hand its not always possible when you work for corp. who restrains you to certain area of software engineering.
Maybe do some kind of indy project if you can leech of your parents for a year or something.

I would suggest you discuss your prospecting career idea with male therapists in your area. Scout out some advice from them, then commission your university a quote on how much effort you'll have to spend to attain your dream.

Me, lately I want to stop working manual labour. It's killing my soul and despite the noticeable gains in my cardio, it all feels so empty even with some extra coin lining my pocket. I've been ruminating on becoming a sleazy mercantile writer, selling erotica or papers or whatever I can spit from my fingers. That or just buy a motorcycle in Africa and play guitar until I decide what to do next.

Aren't you scared of starving or being murdered? How does your life work anyway you seem to switch jobs and locations like others change their underwear, is that normal in NZ?
New ZealandBernd2021-10-05 00:30:54 · 5yNo. 124000reply
>starving
No. I have savings and would be more concerned if I was robbed of the money I intend on taking overseas.
Nobody has suspected me of having $2400 cad and $800 usd in the fanny pack I walk around with hauehauhurahua.
Being murdered would be a blessing to relieve my weary soul from this finicky shell.
I assume my life was a fairly normal occurrence previous generations have followed before travel became an overly inundated excursion through bureaucratic filings and security laws. Go travel, work, travel, work some more, get bored and settle down somewhere.
If its normal in NZ, that I can't positively interpret regarding the endemic population. Most of the seasonal jobs were fulfilled by locals, backpackers or seasonal workers coming from vanuatu, solomon islands, fiji, etc. There's bound to be a few kiwis who genuinely follow the seasons, though, I would deem it foolish if Australia has an endless picking rotation, higher wages and better overall availability of work. I am sure that in Aussie there are professional groups who go around doing seasons of various crops, earning more than I've made in one year over a span of a few months.
I haven't owned underwear since 2019,
