I put lot of work in that kc board there in the past 4 years we're on End. It's a sturdy little chan, is around for a while now (since 2015), and will sure surive for a bit more. I have great working relation with the rest of the staff, we got used to each other, shared struggles and successes. The chan has it's annual celebrations, like Towel Day, Bday, Xmas. Feels like home.

We also have other projects going on, check wrongthink.net run on lynxphp, a new board engine we develop, which aims at the lynxchan functionality, but also want to go beyond.

So all in all it's more than just modding.

This Hungarian film was released in 1969, and was banned for a decade, since it satirizes the communism of the '50s Hungary and certain events happened in those years. It both depicts those particular events and a general picture of the system, and the daily life. Kinda.

For Bernds around here it can be understood easily, since all around similar things happened.

But it can be fun even for Westerners as well, in fact it could prove a real curiosity to them.

I'm interested in hearing Bernds from ex-commie countries if they recognizes certain themes and motifs and lore. Even if most Bernds are too young to remember or was born too late, the inheritance is still alive.

 

The film here is cult classic, and gained international recognition too - although probably for political reasons (on the third hand it's not that rare for Hungarian films getting awards).

Looking at most of the smaller boards, there's some overlap given with the users posting shitty inane replies or lurking. Bernd.group is a bit easier to spot the users that come and go on the map.

Also some of the users on endchan dislike the javascript utilized on this board.

Yes. Didn't get negative comments, and there were a couple of positives. The second stream were more about chatting about various tangential topics than the film itself - e.g. what to do with an owl -, but still.

The good community spirit of the Finns and the general helpfulness of the common people depicted in the movie toward the tard hero was noted.

Personally I liked the general authenticity of the props, the houses, furniture, tools, camp organization, sleds, skis, etc.

I thought he will succeed in clipping the wolf claws of the dog. But probably that would have been too cheerful finish outside of the Finnish creators comfort zone, maybe more of an American thing. I also thought about how the movie would differ if it was made around here, in Central Eastern Europe, for example by us (it would be similar but distinctively different at the same time by a Slavic nation).

We're having our Christmas stream on the 26th. The playlist is still under consideration, but most of the stuff from last year will remain, like Trading Places - which is customary by this point -, Married With Children xmas episodes, Charlie Brown Kwanzaa, Futurama xmas episodes. I'll add another Christmas classic: Die Hard 2 (last year we watched the first one), and I'm hunting some other Christmas specials of various tv shows.

 

I also plan to stream sometimes on 24th and 25th because some users spend the holiday alone, no family or friends, maybe it would do them some good.

Again not decided about the movies, I did dl some Xmas themed horrors last year, but they were shitty enough not to make the list, maybe I get around and stream those, probably they are swell targets to throw some boogers at them, and laugh. And maybe I dunno, we'll see.

Or just start the year with Ten Canoes.

Decided to stream neither of the above mentioned movies, but The Way Back (2010) instead.

It's a comfy outdoor film of a half a dozen escapees tramping south from their comfy gulag camp.
