GermanyI lost my Job/trouble threadBernd2021-06-16 22:29:45 · 5yNo. 115977reply
Hello Bernd, last friday i was told by my boss he has to let me go. I called in sick to often while being in probationary period.
I was 8 months without work due to the Corona panic last year, and now i had a job for half a year and i am again unemployed. Now i have to take care of my unemployment benefits at the wörk agency and try to get a new job.

This shit sucks. Even if i get a new Job quickly, i have to learn new things again, have to get to know my colleagues again. Be the new guy again. My stomach hurts just thinking about it....

And whats up with you Bernd? Tell us about your troubles.
TurkeyBernd2021-06-16 22:36:44 · 5yNo. 115979reply
You mean you just asked your boss to fire you?
That sucks you have to go thru all this shit with new job, but this is how life is for a biomass we are.
I'm having work related decisions as well now, i'm offered 3 times more money and possibly profit sharing for actually easier job then i have now but if i quit my boss will probably go broke because nobody else would be able to replace me.

No my boss told me he has to fire me.
NetherlandsBernd2021-06-16 22:41:22 · 5yNo. 115983reply
What kind of work? Learning new things is not bad tbh.
NetherlandsBernd2021-06-16 22:42:44 · 5yNo. 115985reply
Well if your boss depends so much on you he better start paying you at least in shares of the business so you may grow it or he should imediately start paying you better. If he cant do either that business is not viable and will eventually fall.
TurkeyBernd2021-06-16 22:46:43 · 5yNo. 115986reply
Wow sorry how could i completely misunderstand that.
Well it seems his idea actually sucks and i have to move on, but it's sorta awkward telling him that after so many years.

Im a Carpenter but i worked at a window manufacturer. I have quite a colorful curriculum vitae, worked as Logistics worker in an robotics company and in the production of an aerospace manufacturer. Now i try to get back to them by applying in another branch of the same Group/Company.
GermanyBernd2021-06-16 22:50:54 · 5yNo. 115989reply
Such a decision is hard especially if you really liked your boss. But it is his responsibility to get someone that is able to replace you.

Ripip.

I have ans job's offerings, and also ans academic's position offerings. But I don't want to take neither because I feel burned out and I'd have to start wörking immediately, no break whatsoever in between. I would like to spend time and travellings with ans qt gf's :3
I suffer on Slovenia.
TurkeyBernd2021-06-16 22:56:01 · 5yNo. 115994reply
Btw you was calling sick for real?
GermanyBernd2021-06-16 22:59:10 · 5yNo. 115996reply
Were you sick or "sick"?
Also, how often?

I've got a coworker who calls in sick for 50% of the time bur he is still with us, he's like a god at coding but suffers from super hard depression and anger management problems so sometimes he just wakes up and starts to destroy things in his apartment, poor guy.

I myself don't have any troubles in particular, life is okay - good things happening here and there, I just let them come. I'm like a paper boat on a river.
NetherlandsBernd2021-06-16 23:01:14 · 5yNo. 115998reply
Okay, its bad that you are losing your job but you have experience and you are looking for jobs that actual demand exists at least.

You will find something eventually...Although now its a bit shitty. There are worst places to be believe me...Like 30% unemployment.
GermanyBernd2021-06-16 23:03:19 · 5yNo. 116000reply
No i was really sick not because i didnt want to work. I hurted my back a few times because it seems im not made to carry around 60kg glass panes for 9 hours a day.
BrazilBernd2021-06-16 23:13:36 · 5yNo. 116009reply
That seems like a very taxing job to your body. You won't fuck up your back now, which is a positive view at least.

Don't worry about it Bernd, being the new guy isn't that bad. Just keep applying to other jobs.

I quit my job. Told my boss that I just couldn't afford to sacrifice my hands anymore. Turns out three other people quit too lol.
FranceBernd2021-06-17 05:37:31 · 5yNo. 116063reply
I'm probably going to quit my job next week. The company is too chaotic, some of the management staff are not really competent, the salary is below market rate, and I have nothing more to learn there. There's also the fact that the job isn't turning out to be what they said it would be in the interviews.

I've also been having a company seminar type of thing during the past week (usually we all work remote) and it has been one of the worst weeks in my life so far.

Nope, too exhausted to look for one right now. I'll start looking in a week or two.

I was as process cleaner in a slaughterhouse. It was very simple but my other coworkers still couldn't do their job properly, so my motivated self would clean up after them and it was burning me out faster than I anticipated.
I might do tree planting next.

tree planting sounds like fun.
GermanyBernd2021-06-19 12:42:53 · 5yNo. 116260reply
i'd unironically do that

not for all my life of course but plants and gardening have the power to calm me down
GermanyBernd2021-06-19 12:43:58 · 5yNo. 116261reply
i´d do it too. Nothing bad in manual labour if it pays okay. you can work outside in the nature. Really doesnt sound too bad.
New ZealandBernd2021-06-19 15:04:20 · 5yNo. 116279reply
Yeah it sounds alright and even provides me the opportunity to scout out good locations to plant some weed.
The good aspect is the competitive solo work that I excel at. Working in groups often tends to stress me out because people are incompetent and can't be guided properly without usurping into the managerial hierarchy. I don't mind the bullying, as I had to many times in the slaughterhouse job but its ultimately a waste of time and I end up doing more work than others, which pisses me off and burns me out faster. The money could be good. I see myself doing +200 a day in an eight hour shift and getting a workout in nature.

I sent for three internships/master thesis during the weekend. Honestly the one I am really looking forward to is at Karlsruhe institute of technology. Anyways, applying even for internships is full of anxiety.
