I feel like all good stories are about old stuff. WW1, WW2, nazis, cold war, post soviet, early US history, etc.
Are there any recent happenings that sparked interesting stories?

9/11: No
Moon landing: not really
Wars in the middle east: No

I'm sure we will soon enough get to see some love movies about long distance relationships of people that can't meet due to the lockdown, just give it some time.

A lot of interesting events you cited were things that "changed the world", for the lack of a better term. Most of the modern conflicts and habbenings are not really relevant to the world as a whole, and we mostly only know about it because of the internet.

Haters gonna hate but I really loved the Witcher 3 universe and the lore, didn't care of combat or other stuff at all. Never read or played anything Witcher related before that.
Now playing through it my second time after a pause of ~5 years or so on hardest difficulty where the combat actually has some depth when you can't just tank everything.

Additional information: I rarely go back to singleplayer games. For example Bioshock Infinite was a very interesting experience when I played through it, but I have never had the urge to play it again. Same thing with Metal Gear Solid 3, I really loved it back then, but I'll probably never play it again. MGS5 I dropped midgame, I don't know why.

Ofc not, it's just takes time to build nuclear apocalypse proof bunkers for bankers until next happening.

You're in the middle of a Pandemic that keep most of the world stuck in their home for over a year. But sure, nothing of interest is happening.

Scorn has to be the only game I'm looking forward to and maybe SS14, but the community is dead.

The pandemic was pretty interesting and surreal in the beginning. I remember going to the supermarket for the first time with everyone wearing masks and they used plastic wrap as protection.
But what kind of story can you even tell about it?
Have there been any heroic acts that make for a good story?

>Have there been any heroic acts that make for a good story?
There have been a couple.

There were two instagram brolads in Slovenia, who filed an order for 40% cheaper than everyone else and got the deal, ending up embarrassing the medical equipment mafia by demonstrating that it is, in fact, possible to buy shit much cheaper than they sell it to public hospitals. The seethe from media establishment covering the back of those usurers was a sight to behold.
I'm sure there were stories in other countries too.

It bothers me the plastic dividers installed at every store, bank and area with teller interaction, still remain in place. I can't hear shit if they're talking behind their useless dividers, so I keep ducking around them and actually conversing with the teller like a normal human being.
I weep to see how foul it's become in other countries, but these situations are the new normal.

We also have these dividers everywhere, it's terrible.
