Personally I think it would be very hard to make much of an impact. Of course I could try to invent the steam engine. But the reality is, no one invented it 100 years before it was invented because there was no use for it.

 

So my best bet would be making "discoveries" long before they were made. Like penicillin or gun powder. But I have to actual idea how to do that for real. lol
