The other day I had my first experience with taking melatonin.

I had heard it makes you more tired the next morning as a side-effect, so I decided to take it when I go to bed early to get bonus-sleep, instead of taking it when it is already past my normal bedtime.

The product I got was a water-soluble powder you use to make a tea with lavender, some other herbs and melatonin. So I made a cup of tea before going to bed, got comfy listening to a podcast and sipped the tea. It made me so extremely fucking tired and I didn't even drink the whole cup. I went to sleep almost immediately, was only a little bit interrupted by the alarm clock I set to get a somewhat normal sleep schedule (I didn't actually need to go anywhere), and slept two additional hours - about 10 in total.

I heard you shouldn't use it too often not to get addicted, but I can recommend it as a helper when you want to sleep in for good recovery on the weekend.

Have other Bernds thoughts about taking melatonin?

Didn't even know something called melatonin exists.

I have been taking it almost every night since 2015

I prefer to take it in liquid form via a melatonin spray, itworks best when sprayed under the tongue
