I really don't want this to be taken the wrong way, I don't want to say the Germans in general were the victims in WWII, but it annoys me to now end that Anglos seem to believe their bombing campaigns only destroyed Dresden. If you're lucky they also know about Hamburg. In reality, almost every major city was flattened.
My home town lost >98% of buildings and went from 250k inhabitants to 50k.
And now most of our big cities are ugly af.
If we didn't start a war, our cities might be as beautiful as those of France and Italy.
But even if we didn't start the war - it was times in which a fight between Europes major powers had to be fought in order to find out who is the strongest. A war was unavoidable.
1. Why do they not remember any of their firebombings besides Dresden, though?
2. Why do we always have to argue who was the most evil in WWII? Why can't we just see the tragedies as tragedies for one minute. Beautiful historical cities were there before the Nazis came along but were destroyed anyway. I feel bad for Brits being bombed, too, even though they bombed my grandma.
