Does Bernd believe in genetic memory and inherited trauma? I do.
I know it sounds kinda weird and is associated with all kinds of crazy people and crackpot ideas I don't believe in. For example SS-occultist Karl Maria Wiligut who believed he could remember facts from the lives of his Gothic ancesdors. I think Varg has also made similar claims and there are all kinds of new age esoteric ideas about former lives etc. I'm not talking about that.
In recent times, mainstream scientists have started to investigate phenomena in epigenetics where children of people who lived through starvation have a tendency to become fatter in order to prepare for another famine. I have also read an article about a German man who lived through the bombing of Hamburg. Both his son and his grandson had recurring nightmares about fleeing through the burning city to safety, an event he himself really experienced but never talked to them before.
I personally have a really strong feeling of security and safety whenever I am underground. I have been to mines, subways, a bunker and really deep cellars. Other people describe it as uncomfortable to not have windows and think about tons of rock above your head. Personally I find it comforting. It is the strongest feeling I ever experienced from just being in a specific place. I think it must be connected to my grandparents, who lived through one of the worst allied bombings in WWII and regularly had to go into a bunker. One event had my grandmother in a sort of makeshift bunker that caught fire and she had to flee through streets running with rivers of burning phosphorus to another bunker. I imagine this is a trauma I inherited.
Another one is a sort of social anxiety, fear of strangers and of angry people. Several of my ancestors were abused by choleric people and my grandfather was expelled by his Czech neighbours at the end of WWII, which was another extremely traumatic event. The traits that I associate with this experience are present in my father, who is his son, but not my mom. Which further makes me believe this theory is true.
