This pandemic and lockdown are really getting to me. On top of that, almost every thing I did in the last few weeks went wrong in some weird way and I had many things happen to me out of bad luck, like power outage in my flat and things going wrong with my mail, etc.

I have been on the verge of tears for a couple of hours ;_;

I know this in a knowing kind of way, but I still feel bad in a feel kind of way.

I try to think of life's setbacks as obstacles and tests to overcome, and make my goal in life dealing with them in a good way. That helps to keep a clear heda in face of these problems.

Still my heart and soul feel bad and I want someone to just be there and hug me. But I'm very alone.

No bully but WHAT is supposed to be so bad about the lockdown that it drives people into depression

No human interaction for some of us who don't live with family, don't have partners and don't see people at wörk. If you do that to prisoners, it is recognized as torture.

It also makes many things more difficult or prevents you from doing all kinds of things that would make you feel better. Many people are also losing money, their jobs or businesses, and plans in life can't move forward.

Oh, I'm living like that for a year now already. Feels very grown up.

I haven't seen my dad for 20 months because of this.

I have been going outside like normal, not wore mask anywhere, been to grocery store almost every day, partied with friends as usual (last weekend we rented a cottage and partied the whole weekend there with 10 people) and ignored the flue.

Also, whenever I'm using public transport, I never wear mask and never disinfect my hands. I also live in Helsinki, the "corona centre".

Yes its actually getting to me as well in Turkey they have a lot more strict rules about lockdown then in Russia.

I have been wearing a mask since last March and got made fun of in the first half year. Come autumn (decent) people began to take it more seriously.

You are not badass, you are just stupid. Because of this, you have the ability to enjoy an objectively dangerous situation without worry.

The discovery of all these new variants have got me down. I thought we just about finished with this wild ride.

What's dangerous about a minor flue with 99,99% survivability rate? I keep my immune system at 110% with daily dose of D-vitamin, Zinc, a healthy diet and exercise.
This flue is only dangerous to fat people and +80 year olds that should be euthanized anyways. Which one are you?

Maybe bird feeding might help. It always used to calm me.

Update on my mental state:

I feel like I'm kinda bipolar. Small successes make me really happy and small setbacks throw me into deep depression.

Do you have any hobbies you can do? Could you take a long walk (several hours)? I'm sorry you're feeling this way, hang in there Bernd.
GermanyBernd2021-02-12 21:13:21 · 5yNo. 109555reply
Long walk is difficult because of chronic knee problem and I don't really have hobbies I like to do anymore. Maybe I should get back into reading for longer periods. Sometimes it feels like a waste of time when it is distracting from uni work, but I could plan it as an activity for weekends or evenings and not feel bad about spending hours reading something fun.

Physical exercise can really help, also sunlight. Can you get a bike or something?
GermanyBernd2021-02-13 01:01:23 · 5yNo. 109571reply
I have an bikes and I try to go outside during sunlight for a walk or bike tour every other day, at least. I also do strength training at home. It helps, keep me sane overall, but there are still days and moments when it is bad.

Yes, it alone is not enough. Do you have any social contacts? I notice myself the days without social interactions with other human beings become much heavier
GermanyBernd2021-02-13 01:40:13 · 5yNo. 109576reply
Tomorrow I will skype with a fren and today a female fren randomly messaged me asking how I am. (Usually it is multiple weeks without anyone reaching out to me.) She offered to visit me to cook together and maybe watch an movies if I want to. I think I will say yes.
FinlandBernd2021-02-13 01:44:59 · 5yNo. 109577reply

Definitely say yes. Maybe go outside for a walk and talk. Chats on the internet is sort of a suppliment, I notice talking online doesn't really do anything and I need the 'real deal', a real life social interaction.
