Cyberpunk 2077 was developed by a Polish studio and features an American city with German manhole covers (pic rel).

My reaction: ok.

How in the fuck is this game not going to disappoint with all the ridiculous hype around it?

Also, I don't play games anymore.

the main complaints pre and post-release have been about how it's a buggy mess, but hopefully they will come out with patches to fix them soon

1) I don't like having liberal capitalist bullshit shoved down my throat. Pulling the Kaczynski is not even an option in this game, no way to alterate your political alignment. No freedom of character building. Therefore it's not an RPG. Disco Elysium is.
2) They deserve bankruptcy for the PR campaign that marketed a linear FPS as an open-world RPG.
3) This game will go down in history as a major overhyped flop, No Man's Sky tier.

American politics matter to everyone in the world.
We are culturally colonised by the US anyway. Drumpft is on our news daily, too.
Chapo also has enjoyable cultural critique like the recent one about the avatar movie or talks about events like the Zizek vs Pidorson debate.

Germans have figured out that the manhole cover in Cyperpunk 2077 IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED ACCORDING TO GERMAN REGULATION!

Poland needs to fix this ASAP or this will mean war!

To think I was on the verge of building a high-end PC for this game. I started reading Neuromancer instead. It's not very good, but probably a lot better than Cyberpunk
FinlandBernd2020-12-18 21:26:44 · 6yNo. 105405reply
I also disliked Neuromancer. I didn't like the characters and the narration felt confusing in certain places
DenmarkBernd2020-12-19 06:05:21 · 6yNo. 105407reply
Been a long time since I read it, but I remember liking it alot when I was 14.

I enjoyed it but found it difficult to fully visualise and immerse myself in the world/story.

No I've not read that one. To be honest I haven't delved too much into sci-fi or cyberpunk literature.
I'll add it to the list.
