Writing applications is very difficult and stressful.
KansasBernd2020-12-08 02:46:43 · 6yNo. 104986reply
what kind of applications are you writing?

For an internship I need to finish my masters degree.

Can you pretty much just copy the smae text for most applications
AustraliaBernd2020-12-08 07:59:39 · 6yNo. 104992reply
I hate it. Hate talking myself to be better than I am. Feels like writing a creative assignment.
GermanyBernd2020-12-08 10:49:00 · 6yNo. 104996reply
Not really. That works for the CV, but the letter of application is supposed to be tailored for the specific company you’re sending it to.
FinlandBernd2020-12-08 12:18:17 · 6yNo. 104998reply
I always send the same application text for whichever job I'm applying for, in the style of "I'm ans Meganical Engineer whomth graduated in 2015, I can handle these three CAD software and I can do this and that and I can bust my gat etc." The same basic elements are relevant for almost every position so the same text works for most of them.

I only ever do minimal application tailoring such as briefly explaining my motivation for a particular job and things like that but I keep 60 to 100% of the text the same every time
GermanyBernd2020-12-08 13:21:06 · 6yNo. 104999reply
That might work for Mechanical Engineering jobs where you are
a) an expert for a specific position, doing a technical thing and
b) not expected to be creative or use fancy words.

Doesn't workt that well if you're
a) an intern without a specific skillset
b) applying to somewhat different places because you're still figuring things out
c) in a creative field where you're expected not to use standard phrases and documents.

I thought you are writing an app. You are applying at jobs.
I just open at the morning karriere.at to look for new positions and spam everyone with my cv. If cover letter required I just put there my cv again. I am too lazy to write motivational letters since it usually doesn't pay off. Usually send 5-10 applications per day.

Does that work for you at all?

Also nice get.

Literature. I'm hoping to intern at a publishing company, but there are also other options I'm pursuing.

I get like 1-2 interviews per month. Was already on 5, 6 interviews. I am just dirty immigrant and my German is shit so I speak in English mostly. Since you are local you should have more chances.

Are you offering me a job in crime?
I'm a good boy...
GermanyBernd2020-12-09 08:16:12 · 6yNo. 105032reply
It's not crime and it's a serious company, but not renowned and useless if you want to make contacts to serious publishing and all. But it is still a Verlagsgesellschaft and would probably count for your studies. Can be a backup plan if you find nothing else.
