FinlandBecoming cyborg or building a second brainBernd2020-09-24 12:39:09 · 6yNo. 102831reply
My phone/watch combo informs me when it's time to drink water, time to eat, time for walkies after sitting too long and when time to wake up and go to sleep.

This is completely different from life a decade or more ago.

How has technology changed your life Bernds?

Maybe I should use technology in such a way, because I often succumb to multiple hours of doing nothing. But I have no idea which apps to get and where to start setting this up.

I can help, Android or IPhone?

I've noticed a trend where some smaller publishers only release paperback editions, no Kindle or nothing, likely because rampant piratism.

I have an iPhone.

I already use a calorie tracking App called FDDB to make sure I eat enough protein and stay at a caloric deficit. (I want to lose a little weight.) It helps, but sometimes I binge on a bunch of cookies and milk which hinders my progress. (This tends to happen especially when I can't sleep or have anxiety.)

I also use an App called UV Index to check if I need to apply sunscreen when I go out.

I'm not sure if I should try to identify problems and then try to find apps to help me or first look at which kinds of apps are available.

I'd say the problem route, do you drink enough water, do you eat regularly?

I'm don't remember life without technology
But having a reminder to drink water?
very silly

I think I agree with >>102839 I drink when I'm thirsty and at least two cups of tea are part of my daily routine. My pee color is fine, too. So reminders to drink water don't seem necessary.

In terms of problems, my main issues are getting out of bed, forgetting to follow my schedule and troubles falling asleep. I'll elaborate more on the second point:
My life is currently that I work from home with zero outside factors except a deadline for work every couple of weeks, so I'm completely free in planning my day. I write a physical to do list on a paper and when I follow it, there are no problems. But sometimes I have trouble getting out of bed and actually starting the list. Then the major problem is that sometimes I'll get sucked into reading wikipedia articles, imageboards or something like that and then my schedule gets fucked up. I only manage to do the most basic things and it's all no bueno.

I forget when I'm in the midst of something.

I have the same problem, unfortunately there is no simple fix. Putting persistent alarms and leaving the phone/alarm clock outside the bedroom helps some. Regular sleep schedule, sleep hygiene and ALWAYS waking up at the same time or earlier works somewhat for me. Do you have a go-to-sleep alarm enabled on your iPhone?

wew lad. I'd find that super annoying, but when I think about it a bit more maybe it would be beneficial at least.
