What to eat?
Today I don't want to cook and feel like getting food from one of the restaurants on my street. Should I get Türk food or Syrian?

Türk Pros & Cons:
+ cheap (I also have a gift card, so I could get Döner for free)
+ I know the menue already and it's good
- I know the menue already (Döner & Pizza)

Syrian Pros & Cons:
+ interesting stuff I haven't tried yet (all kinds of Arab stuff I never heard of)
- a little bit more expensive

Aren't you afraid of corona?
GermanyBernd2020-09-17 16:40:23 · 6yNo. 102371reply
I haven't bought ready made food in months. 5-6€ for once isn't exactly oligarch tier.

Not really. Their store front is completely open, I will go in with a mask, order and take the food home. Even lower risk than grocery shopping.

I myself don't trust restaurant owners to stay home when sick, they come to work even if they risk infecting others.
GermanyBernd2020-09-17 16:48:01 · 6yNo. 102374reply
Even if an infected person coofs in my food, the risk of transmission is very low.
FinlandBernd2020-09-17 16:53:50 · 6yNo. 102377reply
Dunno about the newest probabilities, still wouldn't risk it.

I have never heard about food being any kind of risk factor and I listen to every episode of a podcast with the leading german expert on coronavirus.

What do you like?
In terms of take out food, Germans usually have the options Türk, Asian and Italian. Arab food isn't all that common.
FinlandBernd2020-09-17 18:06:34 · 6yNo. 102388reply
It's good you can trust your experts, I take everything official with a pinch of salt here after the "lol masks do nothing, don't used them!" propaganda.

We had that, too. But the people responsible explained their position and that was fair enough. A mixture between honest mistake and telling a white lie for the benefit of all. When it comes to information about what kinds of situations are dangerous or not, I see no reason not to trust them. Especially since I can also read news from other countries and there aren't any contradictions there.
The risky thing is infection via droplets and aerosols. Other kinds of infection are theoretically possible, but extremely rare or haven't been observed at all.

Anyway, I decided to go to the Syrian place and got something they call "Crispy Chicken". A sesame bread sandwich with chicken, some sauce and herbs. 4/5 - tastes very good, big serving but could have profited from a little more sauce.

If I was German I'd eat a doner kebab

I have eaten so many Döner Kebabs in my life, I felt like trying something new.

Lol idk bro pasta maybe?

I'm in a mood for pasta myself
GermanyBernd2020-09-17 18:26:51 · 6yNo. 102399reply
I don't see many benefits to getting pasta from a fast food place compared to making it myself. Other foods I can't make so easily, so it's more worth it to get them.

I'd prefer korean or chinese to that, i mean i love italian more but as you said its not a take out food.

An new döner place opened in my town. They have a „mega-döner“ for 7 euros. I know big döners from other stores so im intrigued to try this mega döner.

Always Döner, lol, except the Syrian also has some shawarma. Actual dishes are way overpriced in oriental restaurants.

Not too far from my workspace, there's a Greek gyros shop. I want to eat there so much - but it's sort of expensive and I'm a poorfag
GermanyBernd2020-09-18 10:52:56 · 6yNo. 102457reply
My favourite thing I get at Greek restaurants is gyros and liver with rice or fries.
GermanyBernd2020-09-18 11:08:51 · 6yNo. 102458reply
You should try a greek dessert. Its greek yoghurt with almond/nuts and honey. Very tasty.

Also gyros pretty great, if done right.

Just ate ans doner it was 5/10, i think i was spoiled by St. Pidorsburg shawarma doners and now every doner i try in other places is 5/10.
GermanyBernd2020-09-18 16:51:16 · 6yNo. 102465reply
Are Döners in Russia the same as here? Please post a pic.
RussiaBernd2020-09-18 16:57:50 · 6yNo. 102466reply
Doubt, all doners are different in general arent they? But pidorsburg has its trademark shawarma doner with distinct taste.
Picrel is what it typically looks like.
