Lörs opinions on living a minimalist life?
GermanyBernd2020-09-15 01:42:45 · 6yNo. 102076reply
Pretty good. The less goods you own the less time you need to take care of them. I just own a computer, a car, a phone and a few books and clothes.

Is the minimalist trying to reduce possesions to his needs?
Or does he go further, and reduce his needs?

i'd say minimalism is an excuse of being poor

Nothing is better than feeling happy while having little.

Very good but also challenging when you begin collecting books.

It's a nice idea but makes you dependent on many others to live.
Maybe have to go digital?

>digital
Been there, done that with an ereader years ago. It's an issue when I can't charge the device or have problems sourcing out a place to charge the device.

you could get a little solar panel, keep your headlamp phone and eventually reader charged up. surely weighs less than a book.

Modern minimalists seem to focus on reducing physical possessions and "decluttering".

I think it's the opposite. Modern minimalists are usually wealthy westerners who live in abundance and have come to the realization that physical possessions don't bring happiness and/or can even be a burden.

Wise words.

Digital books are shit. There is literally studies proving that you remember more if you read on paper.

Yes it's pretty obvious,. But better than having to carry books around or not having any at all.

I guess, but you could also lend from the library or maintaining a small collection, selling or gifting away books you no longer need.

Was talking in a backpacking context. At home who cares about their weight.

Sounds like bullshit tbh. It's just text anyway right?

I've thought of such. My goal has been to discontinue technology fully but listening to music is complicated without sheet music or the experience required to play multiple instruments.

The other option has been a solar charger but well I'm a miser and hate adding new stuff to my setup. Really i should be making stashes again but they're so meddlesome when its in the bush and only for books.
