Did you think Poland was opposed to Nord Stream because they don't want Germany to buy gas from Russia because Putin is evil and Russia shouldn't get euromonies? You have been fooled.
Right now, Germany is already buying from Russia, but it goes through Poland and they get their cut from the prize. All the pipeline changes is that Poland is circumvented.

why/how did poland end up as middleman anyways?
seems like a silly way to set it up in the first place

Are you serious?
GermanyBernd2020-09-03 13:41:16 · 6yNo. 100926reply
Gee, I wonder why Poland was chosen as a middleman between Russia and Germany instead of Australia or Spain.

just seems like it would be easier to go around
its way cheaper to ship by sea, so i can see how this wasnt the first option

Going around on land means more transit countries.
Going around by sea is what we're trying to do with Nord Stream.
Using ships clearly is insanely less effective compared to a pipeline. Or do you think all the economists at the gas companies where just idiots who didn't consider this?
United StatesBernd2020-09-03 13:59:11 · 6yNo. 100936reply
i get that, im just saying the most obvious and direct route i see is that short little swim over, which is why i find it funny that this proposed one wasnt the one at outset.
and aside from pipelines which you dont seem to have and im sure EU govt would be extremely against building shipping on tankers is way way waaaay cheaper than shipping on land when youre talking volume

Tankers on the Baltic sea?
GermanyBernd2020-09-03 14:25:27 · 6yNo. 100941reply
Fren you should read up about the baltic sea. Oil tankers would have to be pretty fucking tiny to wörk.
GermanyBernd2020-09-03 16:32:46 · 6yNo. 100956reply
Its all about the money, now that germany gets the oil directly from russia, poland doesnt get transit money. they are butthurt nothing more.

fair enough
guess the ports would then be way too small too, huh?
ive seen dumber shit tho, like taking cement barges up the st lawrence, and all throughout the great lakes in fact i see that all the time, which are much much much smaller, and not nearly as deep.
seems like you could take some of these mid sized suezmax or maybe an aframax picrel ones no problem, both of which can haul crude. like, if it can make through the suez and the red sea, it shouldnt be that big of an issue (other than weather which im sure is fucking atrocious). but i suppose that would then ruin a lot of the cost efficiency.
idk, it seems like it might be more of an issue of your ports not being able to handle the volume needed to make it worthwhile, more than anything else.
i always forget, its not like you guys have ports like the ones we have in NYC and jersey and the like. i mean, why would you?

but tbh thats an area of the world that ive not only never really thought of, but cant imagine id ever wanna go to.
scandi/baltic cunts in general kinda seem like these boring desolate hellholes that id rather kys myself than ever be in.
no offense to anyone of course.
im just a burger, so i need to be in an environment where everyones screaming and shooting at each other constantly or i start to doze off

I don't know too much about the ports about the baltic sea, but there are a lot of parts of the baltic that are way too shallow for tankers.
