It's probably just typical conduct of "showing inner strength by doing pointless outer political things that won't harm your country or have any lasting consequences whatsoever" aka just a little show to keep polish voters entertained.
My father has business partners who have a big farm in Poland. They say they don't know any Poles who are anti-German or anti-EU. I guess it's old Polish boomers sitting at home who vote PiS and because of them retarded stuff like this is done, while young Poles have to suffer.
