It's such a weird word. Who came up with this? There was a time in my youth where I switched to Blättchen though.

no clue, blättchen has one more syllable so I don't think I'd ever use that word

I guess it's based on Rizla, the brand for rolling papers? That makes somehow sense.

correct (rizle being plural of rizla)

historically we also e.g. called toothpaste kalodont but that's a boomer thing now

I always preferred zigzags over rizlas, but the bamboo rizlas are great. Not sold in Canada. Raw are an excellent alternative if the only available are rizlas, zigzags.
