It has no evolutionary purpose - it is supposed to die off without reproducing. Our civilization is in the middle of the process to kill it off - technology has just been so quick to advance our society that mother nature hasn't had the time to act accordingly yet, even though she is doing her best to rid the world of this trash. B*rnds are genetic waste material. Sad but true.
