The official hottest pepper in the world is Pepper X, which measures an average of 2.69 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), with some peaks topping 3 million SHU.Pepper X is grown by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company (the same breeder who created the Carolina Reaper). It officially dethroned the Carolina Reaper in 2023 as certified by Guinness World Records. For a close-up look at how this record-breaking pepper compares to the previous title-holder, the Carolina Reaper:

Plants are poisonous. We spent 100,000 years breeding and hybridizing less poisonous plants to eat.

I have some Pepper X crossbreed seeds but I think they cross-pollinated with some nothing-peppers I was growing and they've come out banana pepper mild

Why do people do that to themselves? There are much easier ways to feel pain.

I only like Jalapeño and those red pepper flakes in asian sweet chili sauces. The rest tastes horrible to me. Some have a nasty tobacco flavor, others just numb your tongue which goes against the philosophy of actually tasting your food.
Indians make their food hot to hide low quality ingredients and the disgusting stink of their cuisine, because it looks like shit going in as well as going out.

Bernd grows some Habanero. Does not have to be the hottest in the world. Just hot and tasty.

It is not about the pain. The taste is also great plus great medicine.

I like hot paprika, they grow here many in various forms. However I don't see the point of the extra hot ones. Hot paprika adds to the taste and not masks it. The same with every spice, just to point to the most obvious one: salt.

I agree to a point, but if you eat enough hot peppers to acclimate to the taste, you begin to detect flavors where there was previously only pain.
t. could not previously taste Habanero flavor but can now. Thai spicy soup still only registers as liquid pain

Yes, I always test with a nibble even if expectations are low.
I was impressed enough I looked up the mix, it says X + Pink Lady + Reaper Lemon
I am not new to peppers, this advice really needs to tell you to wash your hands and not rub your eyes or scratch your balls until you've sanitized thoroughly.
