Finland's modern language acticists:
<mandatory swedish is cultural colonialism and need to removed ASAP
Same people:
<English is good for you, there's no such thing as mandatory english we live in global world you stupid hick. You suggest learning Russian?, I bet you are a russian troll!

The EU's stance on this is that every student should learn English as a lingua franca and also another language, ideally that of a neighbouring country. I agree that this is a good idea, even though I have my problems with English being dominant but that's another issue for another day.

Maybe Finland could compromise by offering a choice between Swedish, Norwegian and Russian?

In my German school experience English is mandatory, but then you usually get the choice between Latin and French, or Dutch or Russian depending on your region and the availability of teachers.

There's like 5 Karelians in Russian Karelia.
Stalin had all the natives shipped to Siberia and replaced them with Slavs.

What the bydlofinns won't tell you is that Finland is a bilingual country, like Canada. They just hate fennoswedes and swedish due to their animalistic inferiority complex. They are only driven by hate and real racism, I don't see a reason to find a compromise with them.
They can fuck off from the coastal line and we can remove mandatory finnish from there that everyone is forced to endure, then we can talk about removing swedish elsewhere.

I personally saw Karelians there. We tried to find off-road vehicle to get into wilderness, so we came into village with name "something-ozero" near Kem and there were guys who spoke moon language to each other. They had GAZ-66 and one guy helped us and brought us to the place. We rode for 4 hours 40 km and I was demolished by this road. So that guy drunk vodka with us for some time and rode away into darkness of night and karelian taiga. Shit was epic.

If you didn't learn Greek, you don't have a good education. If you didn't learn Latin, you don't have an education at all.
