it's probably a mixture of >>329458 , taxing and regulating these industries to the point that they >>329457 outsource production to china, which then steals the technology and reproduces it more cheaply.
that the governments of europe regulate these firms to death is one thing, that they allow such strategic industries to outsource to a geopolitical rival is another entirely.
that european businesses, knowing that china will steal their work, knowing that any assurances they get from the chinese state are totally empty, still do it is indicative that european business classes are just as dickless and brainless as european state bureaucracies are.
China will master all the stages of chip design and manufacturing and make these European companies go out of business in 5 years. Like literally, China will just push so many chips, they'd cost less than 1$ and europeans won't be able to sell their chips, because everyone will buy Chinese, and then Europeans won't even be able to pay electricity bills for their bulky machines.
