Do you think watching movies can be dangerous? In the sense that we slowly lose the ability to fantasize in our heads, to generate images that are deeply personal to us inside our minds, because the movie already presents to us the images, we don’t have to conjure them up ourselves. We remain passive consumers. Do you see any danger in that?

Movies are fuel for imagination rather than something that can replace it. Movies themselves are a product of imagination of many people involved in production.
What truly damages imagination is being hooked on youtube shorts and tiktok 90% of the time. People surround themselves with constant noise to keep their sensors busy, but having nothing to do is the the best thing you can have to let your imagination work.
This is why I use a button phone and just think or write or draw when I commute or wait in the post office line.

>Movies are fuel for imagination
But what kind of imagination is there when you're watching a movie? The image is already presented to you. What's left to imagine?

Reading words in a book and imagining corresponding images is no skill that you can lose. Children don't have to practice imagining things in their head while reading. As soon as they can read they have this skill. That's how the brain works.

In that case any content is dangerous. Music makes you lose ability to imagine melodies, books make you lose ability to imagine texts and conjure thoughts of your own. You need to start living in some completely dark and silent room (like those sensory deprivation chambers for astronauts), that's the only way to remain human.

There's a lot to imagine that is off the screen. What happens to characters before and after the story? What happens between the scenes? And remember that ideas and concepts from books and films can serve as inspiration for your own thoughts.

No

Losing the power of imagination is happening toany people once they grow older.
I want to keep an open and young mind even when I get older.
