I hit either a dog or coyote with my car today. It happened so fast I couldn't tell for sure what it was.

I really hope it wasn't someone's dog

such cases

it was dark and I was going 70 mph (112 kph)

I had no time to react, and a sudden reaction like swerving into another lane would have potentially caused a worse crash anyway

Why didn't you stop to look what type of animal it is and in what state it is in?

I would've stopped to see how badly it got crushed.

It is pretty likely that as soon as you take a step on the road that another american will show up and drive over you.
United StatesBernd2023-04-30 09:34:27 · 3yNo. 268383reply
It happened on a major interstate highway, so yeah pretty much. Especially at night

But would it really be any different on the Autobahn?
GermanyBernd2023-04-30 09:47:37 · 3yNo. 268384reply
Probably not. But we would then form a Rettungsgasse so that the ambulance can quickly get to you to transport your mushed corpse away.
