I like Linux. What about you?
PolandBernd2023-02-18 09:24:41 · 3yNo. 255764reply
you forgot the most important information, your favorite distro
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 09:30:11 · 3yNo. 255765reply
Why? It literally doesn't matter. Every distro is 90% the same, only real difference is the package manager and init system maybe.

lets just say I'm curious
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 11:41:15 · 3yNo. 255785reply
I don't care about operating systems anymore.
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 11:48:07 · 3yNo. 255788reply
But you use the one that works best for you, right?
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 12:18:00 · 3yNo. 255789reply
I used to use my Laptop with Linux for lurkings and my Desktop PC with Windows for gayming. But eventually my Laptop felt like it got too slow for modern bloated internet so now instead of upgrading my Laptop I just use my Desktop with Windows for everything.

I feel like the only disadvantage of Windows to Linux is that you don't have a proper package manager but have to download proprams manually from the interwebs. But that's really just a minor detail. It does not matter.

Linoox felt great while using it, it was shit for gayming then tho.
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 12:29:20 · 3yNo. 255791reply
Nowadays it's much better for gayming.

My man, Windows is a privacy nightmare. You constantly get forced updates, it wastes your system resources, etc. But you do you.
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 12:35:28 · 3yNo. 255794reply
I don't see anything wrong with automatic updates.
Google knows 10-100 times more about us than windows. When I last installed Ubuntu they wanted to force me to make an account with them just to use gui for the package manager.
GermanyBernd2023-02-18 12:53:59 · 3yNo. 255796reply
Forced updates ≠ automatic updates. On Windows you can avoid updates only for so long until you're forced to install it or they install it without your consent anyway. On Linux I can enable automatic updates, if I want, but it's always my choice what packages I update and which I don't. And if something goes wrong, I can easily revert back to a prior version. You can't do that on shitdows.
>Google knows 10-100 times more about us than windows.
Whataboutism. Only because Google is a greater privacy nightmare, doesn't mean Windows it's less bad.
>When I last installed Ubuntu they wanted to force me to make an account with them just to use gui for the package manager.
I have never encountered or heard about this, but yes, Ubuntu gets worse and worse, so I could imagine such a thing happening. Luckily Linux is FOSS and you can just choose one of the many other distros that are out there.

I don't see any problem with forced updates either. Unupdated windows pcs on the internet are a menace to everybody. I don't say that windows data collection is good but these are fights that are already lost.
I would say that your reasons for it are mostly neckbeard reasons. And if you get neckbeard enjoyment out of using Linux that is totally fine.
AustriaBernd2023-02-18 13:44:58 · 3yNo. 255806reply
I heard that and ever since I promised to try it again on my next machine.
But my self-build PC just keeps running like a little engine that could.

Take the Linux pill.
