Why do low effort posts live so long? I always try to add context, food for thought and some questions to my posts to get a conversation going.
But the posts sticking around for months are mostly single sentence of random bullshit.
GermanyBernd2021-07-03 14:19:46 · 5yNo. 116925reply
You can't force a good thread. I would assume that due to randomness in response quality, low and high quality OPs do not affect thread succes very much, but the higher number of shitpost OPs may give you the impression that these are more successful. If you want to put effort in your writing, I suggest you write poetry or a novel (and post the result pls).
GermanyBernd2021-07-03 14:29:53 · 5yNo. 116926reply
I am not talking about the writing. I just want a 'deeper' conversation about some things once in a while, like we used to have on KC.
Reddit is like the only place where I can reliably find discussions about stuff that interest me. But the way reddit works means that most threads don't live more than a day and it turns into a purely passive experience.

It's just the way it is.
Meself, sometimes I have time and/or the mood to write a more elaborate answer, sometimes I'm about to doze of when switching tab back to the movie I was watching, sometimes you're at work and have better work to do, just don't want to.

dunno
effortposting is so lame, ernstchan is garbage for instance
kohlmag is garbage
endchan's kc is garbage with 'big' threadas where nazi low iq monkey talk some unreadable bullshit for 1000 posts, none of which is good

back on kc we had many fun posting and commieblock threadas and train threadas without much of text

higheffort posting is a total meme, not only on boards, for instance quora is 100% garbage, most books people wrote is 100% garbage end cetera

i myself like esoteric posting the most and schizo posting too

Fools get more attention that the wise sadly.

They're also more persistent when making threads. What you see is 1 in 100 threads that they make all over the intenet

And who the fuck are you that you want us to take serious and waste time reading you and replying you? Just a random anonymous guy on the internet, probably virgin and living on dads money.

If I wanted to read something serious I would read a book.

I could type a long winded reply but Shinto posting is a better form of entertainment than mashing my phone's screen and receiving a stupid reply that goes nowhere.

What if we write
Every post in haiku
Many such cases

Still needs more work, Bernd!

If people like low effort posts why even come here for that?
I can understand quantity over quality in some cases. But what's the point of neither quality nor quantity? I all I can think of is desperation. People come here, because everywhere else their ramblings would just get ignored.

That English as a second language feel
AustriaBernd2021-07-04 09:31:22 · 5yNo. 116970reply
You're right about effort posting being a meme, at least when it gets to a level at which it only seems forced. For example, EC is deep in that territory.

Here it's nice because there is no 4chrin "yo glowie", tiktok simping and many other... things going on.
I welcome high quality postings, but it needs to come on a natural degree between all the petty common things one can enjoy.
SloveniaBernd2021-07-04 11:09:14 · 5yNo. 116972reply
inaccurate on both accounts, you need to count the morae, not syllables

whåt if wi-i wra-it (6)
ev-ri po-ust in ha-i-ku (8)
män-i sač ke-is-iz (6)

It's a slow board.

I'm cheating here somewhat since that threda was posted ons /b/ insteda ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That's too much work. My IQ is not 9001.
FinlandBernd2021-07-06 19:04:06 · 5yNo. 117086reply
Interessang! I had never heard of this concept before. Is there ever a situation in which a mora has more than one vowel?
SloveniaBernd2021-07-06 19:26:01 · 5yNo. 117088reply
old english diphthongs (io, eo, ea) could be either short or long, and when short both vowels were a single mora

I'd note that syllables coda (consonants after the vowel) are traditionally considered an additional mora counting towards weight of syllables, but I'm not exactly sure if this holds true for modern english where syllable structure is coda-heavy
final R however behaves in english like forming rhotic "diphthongs" – they do become tense vowels in non-rhotic dialects like british
