Gun rattling works as a scare tactic against hostile populations. Who'd've thought?
I will invite you to, for comparison, look at the case of Nazareth. Nazareth is still ethnically majority Palesti... I mean, "Arab citizens of Israel" town, despite being integrated into Israel from the start. Why, how? What was different in that area, that Jews didn't ethnically cleanse the natives?
You see – when shit hit the fan in '48, and Israeli troops captured the town, the local community leaders opted for dialogue instead. They would not support the rebellion, and Israeli army would not harm the natives. And they did not.
Seif el-Din el-Zoubi, a local, was elected to the Knesset in '49.
